Just been reading about the £30 million loan MSD gave to Derby County in the Mail sport section . The EFL look like they are investigating it as it is a conflict of interest as the same group loaned us the £10 million last year. This could result in a 12 point deduction and maybe further punishment, they are also being investigated about the £80 mil sale of their ground to a company owned by their chairman Mel Morris. It looks like they are in **** upto their necks. I've tried to upload the article without success, I know it's the Daily Mail but the facts are there for all to see.....I wonder if this could affect any takeover involving Furman if he is going it alone with us ? There was no mention of the loan to Southampton FC but I would imagine they may also be investigated. I just thought this might be of interested to everyone and hope it doesn't spoil things for us....
Interesting snippet here. Fella called Thomas Sandgaard, he’s a US based Scandinavian businessman, he’s about to take over Charlton, or is trying to. Apparently he had a look at Sunderland, beforehand, he’s not at the same level as the fellas we being linked with (£250million or so...), but he’s openly named the club and I’m only posting as it’s yet more proof for those in doubt that the club is openly for sale and touting for buyers. There’s a few suggesting it’s a smokescreen from Stu, this is horses mouth, from someone who simply hasn’t the funds to take it on. We are categorically looking for a buyer. Charlton has sold for a quid twice in a year, and don’t own their stadium or training ground.
I suspected this. Derby are already under investigation as well, their now we Morris is one of them who thinks he can loophole anything. I think the Southampton thing would only become relevant if we were in same league, different governing bodies.
I'm just hoping that it doesn't screw things up for us in any way, Ive no idea about the legalities maybe someone could clarify? Its suggested that MSD UK Holdings holdings aren't registered with the banking regulator, if they were it wouldn't be an issue....Hmmmm
These are multi billionaire investors mate, they know exactly what they are doing. I’d be serene. If they want us, they won’t let a low value loan stop them. They’ll be fully aware of any legalities.
MSD are a different company to FPP. plus Furhmann left MSD last year. If this thing goes ahead it’s likely the FPP loan will be gone anyway. I’m sure they will get it sorted.
Shouldn’t affect us as GF has left MSD to start his own investment company. Therefore no conflict of interest. I’m now starting to wonder whether he foreseen this potential issue, knowing that he would potentially be trying to take control of Sunderland.
Charlton have a bowl of spaghetti hoops full of things going on mate. Absolute mess they’ve ended up in. ****ing shame for them always a good club. They’ll come through it.
