Apologies if this question has been posted before, but out of all the players who have come and gone in recent times, say the past 10 years, who do you think is the one that should never have been let go from LFC, whether we knew it at the time or we only realised after the event?

My vote would be for Xabi Alonso. GKRK

Alonso is an obvious one, Hyypia should have stayed and would like to have had Hamann hang around and teach a young Lucas, Spearing the ropes on being DM.

It has to be Alonso - everything seemed to go down hill since he left and it's a space that we've struggled to fill since. Hopefully Adam be the key man.

Alonso, Bellamy (I'm happy that he is back) and possibly Alou Diarra

Alou is a good shout as he was NEVER given a chance at all and now is a player we could defintely use. Sissoko was looking good until the eye incident, and as up and down as he was, Garcia would have still been superb for us, craft and guile!

All of the above and Alonso the biggest mistake of recent years. Special mention as well to Igor, Crouch and Steve Finnan

Good shout on Arbeloa - massively underrated and one of the best right backs we had. Very solid, good defensively and good going forward.

Was pretty versatile as well - I remember his debut was against Lionel Messi at left back and did well!

Its got to be Xabi although i'd still love us to have Arbeloa who i think we've missed more than people sometimes mention, i'd have also liked Masch to still be here because he's a top class player.
