Piqué, Busquets, and Messi are pretty much finished. Virgil, Fabinho, and Mané/Salah to replace them?
That would be pretty hilarious. Very skint by all accounts. Hence the bizarre Pjanic - Arthur non-swap deal. Has to be a massive clearout that's at least equal to any new recruits coming in. Wonder if they'd be interested in Lemina...
He’ll do okay there. Hard not to. Can’t see him as a man for a roots up rebuild though, which is what it seems to need.
On reflection, a spine of Hoedt, Lemina, and Carillo would suit Koeman pretty well! Shall we say £30 million for the job lot?
Honestly, there's really only thing they can do this summer to get out of their financial hell, and it's the thing they really don't want to do.
Sky showed Ron's most expensive signings yesterday. I think all of them were for Everton and hardly any of them were a big success. That said, his signings in the first summer for us mainly all did well, just not sure whether they were signed by him or the club. I have a feeling that Barca won't be able to sell too many players given the circumstances.
My recollection is that Pellé, Tadić, and Mané were recruited by Paul Mitchell with the help of the fabled Black Box. Ron, on the other hand, was responsible for Jordy Clasie and Cuco Martina.
I love that Messi is “pretty much finished” after hitting 30-odd goals off of 40 appearances in a dysfunctional team. It’s testament to how incredible his career has been that a statistic like that can be looked at as in any way a disappointment.
That’s not really accurate. All of those players would have been known by the club and by Koeman and it would have been a collaborative decision.
Not sure Chilcs, I always thought that Ron had input into the Pelle and Tadic signings because of his prior knowlege of the Eredivisie but I could be wrong.
