well sherlock, i will let you dig for the info yourself to ascertain the validity of these numbers

    upload_2020-8-17_21-0-48.png

Thats the excel i produced for the profit figures. Here is the link for each one:

    https://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/news/2020/march/financial-results-year-end-30-june-2019/

    https://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/may-article-import/2018/financial-results-year-end-30-june-2017/

    https://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/news-archive-1/financial-results/

    https://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/news-archive-1/financial-results-shareholder-and-stadium-update/

The spend is debateable as i only took those from transferleague.

Now once you confirm those figures, can you explain whether Spurs could have spent a part of the 200m on the stadium

n.b. been edited to include transfers because transferleague didnt include january 20 transfers

I'm assuming you're getting befuddled by Imgur, since image URLs they tend to be a pain, but since the URL is still not working and I can;t see the figures your quoting - again - let's just start with deductions

    Transfers
    £55m for Tanguy Ndombele
£42m for Lo Celso (£15m loan fee + £27m to make it permanent)
    £27m for Steven Bergwijn
    £25m for Ryan Sessegnon
    £10m for Jack Clarke
£3.8m loan fee for Gedson Fernandes
+ chicken feed for Kion Etete and Isak Solberg

    Total: £162m in transfer fees

    New contracts
    Harry Winks (£90k p/w from £50k p/w, July 2019)
    Ben Davies (£90k p/w from £60k p/w, July 2019)
Lucas Moura (£80k p/w from £80k p/w...okay, I think Football Manager may have ****ed this, August 2019)
Moussa Sissoko (£80k p/w from £80kp/w...although that might actually be correct, September 2019)
    Toby Alderweireld (£150k p/w from £50k p/w, December 2019)

    Miscellaneous
The club had a deal with Pini Zahavi to smooth out our summer transfer business
£20m in payoffs for Poch and his team
Compensation for a chunk of Lille's support team

That's cash being splashed, the problem is that apparently it's "not enough"

Of course, what we're never told is what "enough" is, but that's because the moaners don't tend to want to give specific answers when it comes to transfer fees, wages, players we should sign, or a reason why we should listen to them

That’s just last year, his figures were the last few seasons.

You can’t just pick and choose so it makes your argument look stronger

Oh, you mean the picture isn't working for you (is working for me) so apologies for that.

That's splashing out in the one transfer window

Year // Transfers // Net Profit // Operating Proft
    12 // -27.00 // -4.30 // 23.00
    13 // -1.30 // 1.50 // 23.40
    14 // -16.30 // 65.30 // 36.00
    15 // -1.50 // 9.40 // 46.70
    16 // -8.00 // 33.00 // 63.30
    17 // 28.00 // 41.20 // 117.60
    18 // 25.00 // 113.00 // 162.00
    19 // -11.00 // 68.60 // 172.00
    20 // 131.00 // ?? // ??
    Totals // 118.90 // 327.70 // 644.00

He has spent a lot this year and we will see whether that continues with the new stadium in place this summer but theres still a 200m surplus from all the previous years on top of the additional revenue (minus a bit more because of covid and less fans) that is being generated if we're looking net profit.

It's not "picking and choosing" when I can't see the figures he's quoting, it's trying to meet halfway while demonstrating that, oh yeah, contrary to what the shouty dullards say we spend money

That's the thing with the revenue jump of 2018-19 - which is the basis for the erroneous "Spurs are the eighth richest club in the world" claims that I've thoroughly debunked...and then had to debunk a second time as the main person who keeps claiming that didn't listen the first time - has obviously been put towards transfer fees and the wage hikes for Toby, Winks, Davies (and surely Lucas, not sure why FM didn't fix that in their February megapatch) plus paying Zahavi's retainer

Also, it has to be said that maintaining a surplus is absolutely necessary for a variety of reasons, the most obvious one being the stadium loans we have to balance (even after refinancing them last year) and, as we don't have naming rights sorted out to carry some of that burden, it provides a safety net - one which we were fortunate to put in place, considering that our matchday revenues dropped to £0.00 in March and will stay there for some time to come...which doesn't justify charging for a stream of a pre-season friendly

Sounds like it’s even less now

Less than £30k a week for someone of his experience is pretty good going, hard to imagine what bonuses he’d get, unless it’s team-related. Still find it odd on his part though, at 33 I’d say it’s his last chance to secure a number one spot somewhere. Not complaining, mind.

A great addition to the squad for the younger players, maybe an offer of a coaching place at the end of his contract as a tempter

RETAINED profit over that period is HALF the operating profits.

Whilst i agree with maintaining a surplus for a rainy day, the figures shows that you're running a surplus every season!

Likewise, the stadium loans do need to be paid off but 37m per year (i think) but until covid hit, you was actually expecting to be making about 90m per year from the new stadium which would easily cover that.
