FINAL CHOICE 14/1 Uttoxeter 3:10 By Makfi out of a Saddlers Wells mare I am pretty sure that ma'am didnt have a 3m Class 3 hurdle at Uttoxeter in mind when she bred him. However, he loves it round here with 2 wins and a 2nd from 4 starts and he turns up here off the same mark as when bolting up over C&D in October. He also arrives on the back of a flat win over two miles at Newcastle. The price looks generous enough to have me interested. First time blinkers for Theclockisticking and if he takes to headgear then he could run a big race off his mark also.
Market Movers.. Catterick 3.20 - Hurstwood. 33s into 13/2 5.20 - Lord Torannaga. 20s into 8/1 Singles and e/w double.
Uttoxeter 3.40 - Perfect Myth 14/1 4.10 - Flintrock 16/1 Singles and e/w double. Neil King had a couple of winners Sunday.
In a recent interview Bryony said that the yards horses were not right when the season started but that they have now turned the corner and that they should be followed.
Morning Will play two in the 1.45 Catterick Look Out Louis @ 9-2 [Bet 365] & Rebel Soldier Boy @ 5-1 [William Hill] 1pt on each
At Windsor the Frankel colt Fivethousandtoone is a warm favourite to make a winning debut for Andrew Balding. He cost 475,000 Guineas and the dam was a decent enough sprinter rated 92. This is her first foal and you would think there would be speed from the mother's side but Frankel has tended to sire horses who need further than you would think and he himself started at a mile as a 2YO. Bahrain Pride cost 300,000 Guineas and the Kodiac colt makes his debut for the Crisfords here. The stable are ticking along nicely, as is that of Michael Bell who saddles the Queen's Oasis Dream colt Humming Bee. The colts named above are both weak in the betting, particularly Humming Bee, and if the betting is to be believed it is a one horse race. I thought Prince Of Bel Lir made a promising debut at Haydock and he showed something to build on after running green but managing to finish 3rd in a reasonable looking contest. Trainer Joseph Parr is a new man on my radar but he has 3/8 over the past two weeks and I feel that if Prince Of Bel Lir can make a little improvement it might make him tough to beat based what would be a typical winning rating for a race of this type. If Fivethousandtoone is special then so be it but Prince Of Bel Lir might have the edge on experience and the 6F 2YO races can be tough to win if newcomers fluff their lines in any way. 3.55 Windsor Prince Of Bel Lir 3/1
In the second division of the Windsor maiden, I expected that Longlai would be very skinny. He didn't build very much on his first start last time but on both occasions he ran over 7F he didn't quite seem to last home. The drop to 6F today should suit the Shalaa colt. Some of those who have raced could step up a fair bit and you never know with the newcomers but the Hannon horse sets a clear standard for now and 7/4 seemed worth taking. It almost looks worryingly big but I'll bite. 4.30 Windsor Longlai 7/4 I'll need a Long Lie if he fails!
I like Sebastian Bach in the 3.10 at Uttoxeter. Won impresssively 2 runs ago at Southwell over 3 m. Flopped 9 days later over 2 m 4 f at Market Rasen. Maybe this race came to soon and trip was propably to short. Today back over 3m at a left handed track with a decent conditional taking off valuable 7lb and stable in good form it could be to soon to write him off.
More good write ups Grendel, however I'm going against you in this race as having seen that CHATTRI was as high as 16/1 but is now down to 11/2. Obviously didn't show much on debut 74 days ago but looking at that race he was up against TACTICAL (3rd) who has won a few good races since and also ZAMAAANI (5th) who has won in style too. Also I believe there is a draw bias at Windsor (high) and even more so when it is soft like today. Not a race I would have had a bet in but I think CHATTRI 13/2 ew is worth a bet.
Pretty dire effort from Prince Of Bel Lir, he probably hasn't matched his first effort, far less progressed. The trip was the concern for me with the Favourite and I doubt we will see him at 6F again. He did stay on but was not getting to Bahrain Prince, who was easy to back but got the job done in a race dominated by the expensive newcomers who cost 775,000 Guineas between them. They earned £4100 and £1200 today, so a long way to go to break even.
Well who saw that one coming? Jane Chapple-Hyam not know for 2YO newcomers but Albadri bolts up like Dancing Brave in the 4.30 Windsor at 100/1. The Hannon horse was backed but he showed all the resolution of a lettuce leaf and we pitiful for an odds-on shot. Two odds-on shots at Windsor so far and two beaten. A friend of mine used to say "Never bet on Mondays or Saturdays" I should have closed the browser this morning.
