Who we're now trying to sell. If Vestergaard was 28 when he signed (like Hinteregger is), he'd now be 30 and we'd struggle to get back near to what we paid. I'm not even against signing Hinteregger by the way, I'm simply questioning the rumour because it would seem to go against our usual buy young and sell on policy that we have for most of our transfers. Going back through our last three years of transfer history, the eldest player we've signed has been 26: Ings: 26 Carrillo: 26 Armstrong: 26 Vestergaard: 25 Even going back to the 2015 summer, the oldest signing (excluding GKs) was Jeremy Pied at 27, and he was on a free.
With Bednarek, theres been very light rumours of him going to Chelsea. Hes out of contract in 2 years, and if hes got no intention of re-signing with us, we might well cash in this summer whilst his price is still high. I'd be surprised, but it's a thought. Stephens also out in 2 years, but he seems more likely to sign than Bednarek.
But then we bought an overweight striker in 2009 who was very nearly 28, and he ended up scoring 134 goals for us and took us to the Premier League!
Oh him......not good enough for the championship or the premier league or even England. oh wait ........loved how he proved all the doubters wrong.
Yeah but he wore the shirt of Matt Le Tiss, and look who’s got it now... moral of the story, things change
Velez Sarsfield are interested in Southampton's Argentine forward Guido Carrillo, 29. (TyC Sports - via Daily Echo)
I was working in the care industry then, and my client chose to have his liquid medication at the precise time that England won the corner, from which SRL scored. I positioned myself so that I could medicate him whilst keeping one eye on the tv. How my client didn’t end up wearing the medicine, as SRL scored, is a tribute to my professionalism. Or luck.
