Ryan Gray is a young journalist who reports on Watford FC for the Observer. I do not think that he has any contacts within the club. Most of his information seems to be regurgitated from the club website or taken from scouring the internet.

Adam Leventhal's most recent article in the Athletic also discussed who might go or who might stay, but there was no evidence that he had any inside information.

The statement by Pierpaolo Marino, Udinese Sporting Director, that Luis Suarez will be staying at Watford "no matter what" appears to originate from the twitter account of a Colombian sports radio station. The radio station gives the impression that either someone may have spoken with Pierpaolo Marino or that they are reporting an interview with him because several comments are included.

According to the Wobby, Sarr has said that he is happy to stay with Watford in the Championship.
    Here's hoping...

Vladimir Ivic will be named as Watford's new head coach on a two year deal in the coming days.

The Serbian coach left his post at Maccabi Tel-Aviv earlier this summer having led them to back-to-back titles and now looks to be the man tasked with trying to guide the Hornets back to the top flight following their relegation.

Watford have been without a full-time head coach since Nigel Pearson was sacked back in July after a defeat away at West Ham United, with assistants Hayden Mullins and Graham Stack taking over on a caretaker basis for the final two games of the season.

The Hornets are set to return to training next week and should have Ivic in charge for their first season back in the second tier in five years, with the 43-year-old looking to build on his already impressive reputation.

After leading PAOK to the Greek cup in his first season in charge as a manager, he moved to Tel-Aviv where he claimed consecutive league championships having lost just eight games out of the 91 in which he took charge.

Watford held talks with Ivic last week before making the decision that he is the man to take the club forward after also approaching Barnsley boss Gerhard Struber.

The Tikes manager would have cost the Hornets around £1.2million pounds in compensation.

Guess we will see how he does!

Let's hope the Pozzos don't fall out with him as it would mean we aren't doing well !

We'll see, but hopefully our owners can afford to keep him here and Sarr will do his utmost for our club. Think a year in the Championship would be a good toughening up exercise and get him crossing practice.

Staying to win the Championship with Watford would show more ambition than joining Crystal Palace

Guess money will talk but least he isn't in a rush to leave so won't kick off if we don't sell.

    Unlike others I.

That is the big question Yorkie. They are no mugs in the Championship and we are only a month away from the big kick off, without a managerial appointment. The new manager (who may at least have the same nationality as Jokanovic) may not have the time to sort out this squad in the meantime. The sort of changes that we need are not going to happen in the available time, so the chances are that we will hit the field with the same players who capitulated so badly at the end of last season. We need to hit the field running - if you don't then the chances are you will be chasing the game up until Christmas. I will be happy with survival and consolidation in the coming season. Last season, and also after the Corona break we did not hit the field running - the preparation for both starts was woefull. Just for comparison the Dutch Eredivisie begins on Sept. 13th (the same as the Championship) and Ajax are playing their second pre season friendly tonight before shortly departing for Austria for pre season training camp.

I do think that Pozzo has a very big call to make in the coming days. Does he keep players like Sarr who could destroy some Championship defences and trust that he can get back to the Premiership at the end of the season, or remodel the side to be less attractive, but more workmanlike. Ryan Sessegnon was a very young but talented winger at Fulham in the year that Jokanovic took them up, and was a big part in their success. I suspect that some of the decisions will be made by agents stirring the pot and the need to replace some of the lost TV money.

I would love Sarr to stay for a season and I think it would be great for his development. He would get loads of game time, and hopefully lots of confidence. However, I do not begrudge a young player from a developing country moving for money when it can permanently change not only his life but also his extended family.

Unfortunately we have won a reputation for not developing players F1. There are too many players at the club whose careers are going backwards and that has been the case for a few years now.

“Watford are prepared to sell some of the older players in the squad to create a younger team. At the moment, they remain determined to reject any offers for Ismaïla Sarr.” (Jason Burt, the Telegraph)

Sounds like he does not want to leave.. And another season with us will actually be better for his development than as a squad player with a top team...
    Fingers crossed

A very bold and positive design. The thought of Sarr, spinning his way through opposition defences in that top, would probably hypnotise several of the opposing players. All in all, so much better than alot of the boring kits we have had in the past. Will guarantee, we will get noticed.
