Good Morning. It's Wednesday 12th August, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road.

Mixed News on Leeds pursuit of River Plate Duo

Leeds are locked in negotiations with Argentinian outfit River Plate regarding Gonzalo Montiel and Lucas Martinez Quarta.

Highly rated centre back Quarta 24yo, is 6ft tall, very skillful for a centre back and has two caps for his Country. He is in the final year of his contract, but still has a release clause of 18m.

Similarly, Montiel is a 23yo defender, albeit an attacking right wing back. He's 5ft 9', pacy and has a a great cross on him.

Leeds were hoping to secure a deal for the duo for under 20m due to River Plates financial problems. However, it seems their plight is not as bad as first feared, and have told Leeds they only need to sell one of their assets!

Originally the Whites were hoping they'd be able to secure the services of Lucas Martinez Quarta for between 10-12m and Montiel for between 5-6m.

Whether or not Leeds are able to land both players, they will continue their pursuit of Ben White. The Daily Star have revealed that they are ready to increase their offer for the 22yo for a third time. So far, the seaside club have rejected offers at 18.5 and 22m. The next offer is believed to be in excess of 25m.

Leeds cool interest in Wilson, as Benrahma identified as top target

Leeds have cooled their interest in Harry Wilson, and have instead pinned their hopes of bringing Algerian International Said Benrahma to Elland Road. Wilson enjoyed a successful loan period with Bournemouth last term netting seven times in 20 appearances, yet Bielsa has made the Brentford number 10 his top priority.

If Leeds are to land the 25yo, they will have to fend off interest from Arsenal, Chelsea and Villa. Benrahma netted 17 times last term, and was credited with nine assists. Bielsa see's the 25 yo as an ideal replacement for Hernandez.

Capturing a natural goalscorer would certainly take the pressure off Bamford, if he remains first choice striker.

Brentford had initially wanted their £25m, but could settle for closer to 15m knowing that they will still earn huge profit from the £2.7million it cost to sign him from Nice in 2018.

Recession announced. How will that effect Leeds?

Britain is officially in recession. The coronavirus pandemic has plunged the country into the deepest slump on record. The Office for National Statistics said gross domestic product (GDP), the broadest measure of economic prosperity, fell in the three months to the end of June by 20.4% – the biggest quarterly decline since comparable records began in 1955.

What kind of impact will that have on football clubs, in particular Leeds Utd?

Whilst its nice to be bidding for some of the best players in the World, is it wise to do so in today's financial climate?

    Will players values drop?

    Should Leeds wait?

    Morning all <ok>

I would love Ben White back, I think hes got one hell of a future ahead of him. But we need to strengthen in many positions so throwing silly money at it doesn't wash with me.

    Morning all...

We need to drop the Ben White interest and walk away, it seems like he is the corkscrew in the bottle as far as signings go, like we’re afraid to spend on anyone else as we don’t know what White is going to cost.

Throw into that other teams watching us, imagine you’re Brentford, you think White is worth around £15m to £20m and you see Leeds pay £30m, you’d start rubbing your hands together when they enquire about Benrahma.

We need to walk away from White and let everyone know we won’t be held to ransom.

With Berardi injured Foyth plus one of the others we’re interested in offers far better value.

Just a point about Beradi he is no linger a Leeds player. Rads said the club would help him but that does not include a new contract. Are the club really going to pay him another circa £400,000 just to get him fit i seriously doubt it he is gone.

Today is the day the lads are back in training but Bielsa still to sign but there isnt a problem its just Bielsa being Bielsa

Anyone see the cryptic tweet last night from Kiko, not sure if that means hes staying or going. Something about dont let my silence make you think Im weak....

the club must be by now getting sick of the UK player prices especially in a pandemic and also a recession, they just increased prices by millions for every player we think about. We also get Newcastle Everton, WHU, Southampton, Villa linked to every player we look at. We also get Liverpool and Chelsea talking up players like Ben White so Brighton think they can get £35m for him.

maybe its time to admit defeat and walk away from UK players and sign Foyth or Martinez-Quarto instead of White. Spend £35m on a top striker and sign a great No10 like the lad last night for Seville who blew Wolves away, he ran the show. Seville did what Leeds do and pressed and harried Wolves so they never got the ball. 73% possession it was great to watch and the only way Bielsa can compete in the Prem

Morning all i believe nothing any news site says until we announce a player has jouned. Even then i do not believe the figures that are quoted.
All this White stuff is a waste of air we need to move on and use what little funds avaliable wisely.
All signings so far have been public knowledge for weeks now. But even they are just speculative punts just like Roberts who has been a costly mistake. Tyler may make a decent champ player but he can't keep fit and is no striker. Sell him and Alioski and casilla. We have u23s who were never given a chance last season. Surely they must form part of our future or sell them too.
Time to move this club forward or we will be relegated for sure.

Interesting how they talk about Benrahma as a striker. I see him as competition for Harrison/costa not bamford. Guess it’s that ‘front 3’ argument.

I don’t think the current team would go down - assuming we got white/decent replacement

we need goals to be better than just too good for relegation though

This is the 2nd time I have seen data confirming that Buendia is the player we need and this was from a relegated team in the Premier League?

    Morning all,

Is it because of the recession that Championship clubs are being so greedy, hoping the riches of the Premier League, will help their financial predicaments until we get over this, which will most likely go on for another 12 months at least.
Catch 22, we need to stay in the PL to enjoy yhe riches it brings but can't bankrupt ourselves trying to do it, looking abroad looks like it could be the answer for us.

Ben White first we offer 18 1/2 million then 22 million then 25 million
Doesn’t Orta know how to play poker, he’s on the run and Brighton know it
Whilst I don’t agree with these inflated figures surely he should have made a final offer take it or leave it, on the table for say 3 days then we go elsewhere without any further discussion
We all know what happened last time we overspent heaven forbid that history repeats itself.

Morning everyone from a sweltering Southampton :emoticon-0157-sun:
Let's hope for the news today we have all been waiting for.
Up until now i have not even remotely considered Buendia, mostly threw ignorance, as i know nothing about him, apart from the odd clip on MOTD, and that's when i'm in a good mood to watch it (usually after a good Leeds result :emoticon-0136-giggl ) But must admit those stats are impressive, and as we all know Bielsa is fond of his stats.

Morning all. What about if MB has told Radz that unless he gets BW then he's not signing?
    That would be a worry

I think there will be games where the superior passing teams will beat our press and tear us apart on the break. And there’ll be plenty of games where we more than hold our own.

Thought cooper was excellent this season. I’m sure sheff Utd fans had similar concerns about their league 1 defenders too.
