4000 landed in this country this year. If they are all coming here from France why the **** are France not stopping them from getting in to their country in the first place? Perhaps because they know that France isn't their desired destination and they don't give a ****. I'd have the ****ing military in the channel with harpoons if I were BoJo like....i really would. Turn round or sink, you choose.

Lots of snowflakes on twitter siding with the poor immigrants who are fleeing (France) for their lives and merely ‘want a better life’. How many realistically would happily take in a migrant family to their own home if they felt that strongly?

    not many I’d guess.

What the **** does brexit have to do with this debate? Would you take one in to live with your family? Or be happy if you had a migrant family living next door to you?

Plenty. We’re getting control of our border back, as opposed to the French doing it on our behalf. It was a huge benefit, remember?

Why do I have to have an asylum seeker living in my spare room because I have pity on their plight? That’s such a ****ing ridiculous argument.

Does everyone who has empathy with the homeless including homeless ex servicemen have to have one living in their gaff before they can express an opinion on it? No, thought not. Funny that.

This migrant issue is some of the misleading way votes for Brexit were cast. We need to ensure our own, sick, disabled, homeless and those in severe poverty are helped first. Seems our systems to help others is better than that to help our own citizens.

Yeah mate, that’ll be why many of the very same people who are currently crying about migrants were crying the other week about kids in poverty having meal vouchers during the summer holidays, but looking after our own or something.

Asylum seekers get £37 a week in voucher credits to buy food while their application is processed, they can’t legally work and they access to **** all else. Over half of all applications are refused. Makes me laugh all of this fake ‘crisis’ about dinghies. Less than 10% of asylum seekers arrive here by that route. Yet it’s now an invasion apparently. Dog whistle bullshit that’s been driven into the news again by Farage and lapped up by a Govt desperate for a diversion away from their numerous failures and wrong doings.

Can anyone answer the question as to why lots of people fleeing persecution in their homeland pass through half a dozen perfectly safe countries to rush theirs and their kids lives on a dangerous channel crossing please?

    genuine question.

If this was meant to be a serious thread, you should have said so.

Embrace the New World mate, and when the time is right, you can join the motley crew of my little dinghy as we set off for Benidorm. It's a cracking dinghy, one from the new range at Sports Direct, has a mini-bar if you're interested.

Back to the question of why do immigrants want to come here, its a bit like that pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Elusive for some, but, for others its probably worthwhile if they're prepared to work hard, for some unscrupulous modern day slaver (Tory).

Boris will sort it though, once he gets out of reverse gear and takes control himself.
That's his normal MO so I'm a bit surprised he's left in the hands of the Home Secretary, bless her.

In some cases potentially but if I were a dad I wouldn’t risk my daughter or sons life on a dangerous crossing for a different level of safety, safety is safety ultimately. I’d honestly stay put, settle in and review options later on.

the main bad guys here are the traffickers and the ****s overseas who fill these folks heads with dreams of a pot of gold and fleece them for their lives savings.

this isn’t the mysterious cities of gold and Esteban was fictitious as the real world is very cruel.

If you had seen some of the research that had been done in regards the migrants, one particular fella did refuse to put his daughter on the boat, despite having paid traffickers. His reward for doing so, was for him and his daughter, to remain living in sqaulor, with nothing more than a tent on French territory. He chose that over risking the channel. If you haven't heard this story or stories like it, maybe ask that as a question why? It's because particular agendas are being played out. Even with the increased numbers coming across the channel, it counts for less than 1% of immigration. Nothing is new, Folkestone has been used for as long has I can remember, and I'm talking decades for immigrants awaiting processing or whatever they do. Btw, I voted Brexit. Why are they doing it, because as with many areas, Us, America, other countries and the UN are all responsible for bombing the shhite out of regions, that then has a knock on consequence. Sometimes, political games as Russia tries to strengthen its borders out. All these immigrants are people that have been used as someones political pawns, we only have ourselves to blame, when they come knocking on our door, for a new home, because we huffed and puffed their homeland into the ground. Rant Over.

I more shocked that we still haven't came up with a plan yet, I won't pretend I know the full story with the people camping in France but surely we can't allow their options to remain either living in a slum or drowning.

I'm also gonna presume a large reason as to why they wish to live in Britain as opposed to the rest of Europe is due to the ease of finding a job in England and many parts of specifically Africa speak English as a first langauge and so its a natural destination.

It always amazes me how generous we are when a relief organisation or celebrity produces a video showing horrific conditions and starvation in various parts of the world but when these people have the nous and courage to brave flimsy boat crossings of the Mediterranean and English Channel, people want to tell them to **** off and stop bothering us.
And then the developed world has the nerve to tell developing countries that they have to stop exploiting their natural resources to fund their development as its ****ing up the climate for those of us who are already developed.
Until the world comes up with a global solution to poverty that will stop migration of this type we cant expect them to help us with other global issues.

Years ago I got to know a young chap from Afghanistan. HIs father, a high-ranking official in Kabul, had disappeared, presumably at the hands of the Taliban. I felt sorry for the young bloke, he had travelled thousands of miles in a lorry to get here, clearly determined. He got a job in a corner shop, the Indian owner feeling sorry for him (he shouldn't have been working but I guess needs must). I lost contact with him and god knows where he went. Bizarrely, the last time I saw him he asked me where he could buy a rubber doll from? <laugh> Whatever floats yer dinghy I suppose <laugh>

And you didn’t think it strange that of all the people he knew you would be the one he asks where to get a rubber doll?
