Mate, Jose Mourinho is your manager. Breaking up play, yes; creative players flourishing, probably not so much. He’ll come in handy when you’re parking the bus against Clubbe Bruges though.
He will sit on the bench with a lucrative long term contract waiting for his agent to force a move to another club where the manager is a client (£££££££)
sounds like you’ve swallowed the Pogba tripe tbh Let me guess, he’s gonna leave us in financial ruin aswell
Well Harry Redknapp didn’t ruin you financially, so I don’t suppose José will get the better of your owner either. God, your managerial appointments have provided some comedy value over the years. Whatever happened to Christian Gross anyway? We’ve had some shockers ourselves too btw. Wouldn’t swap Ralph H for anyone in the PL now though; certainly not for José.
Read a weird article in the Times about PEH today, clearly penned by someone with a bag load of stats, but who has never seen Pierre play football. It was all “opta rates Hojbjerg as x” and “statistics show that he does y”. The one that made me laugh was his ‘progressive passing into the final third’ bit. Pierre hasn’t seen a ball move forwards from his foot for about three years. I do think he’ll fit the Mourinho style, and a change of scene will likely reignite a good player. But it’s like they think they’re getting the new Patrick Viera. He’s more cheese and biscuits than Sergio Busquets. I guess it makes sense if they need a bread and butter player in midfield to tackle and pass the ball back to the keeper, but they’re so awful to watch now, I haven’t seen them play for a bit, so I have no idea if that’s what they need.
We shouldn't knock Pierre too much...he wasn't made captain for nothing. We've just hit a crossroads...it would have been ok to keep him, but no need to tear our hair out because he's gone. Know nothing about Spurs, so he may be what they need for all I know. Could be revitalising for him to be at a new club....time will tell. Best of luck to him as a player....just not against us.
There was a time two or three seasons ago when Pierre and JWP played we always seemed to have better control of midfield but successive Managers chose not to play them together in the middle very often. As Fran says, he had a very good season the one before last and was made Captin but never really got going last season (like a few key players at the start) possibly due to experimentation and lack of continuity. The fee he is reportedly going for is about right in these days of Covid deflation and if he plays to his potential then he would give value for money but it's clear that his heart in not here and we have an opportunity to possibly sign a better prospect. I have no illwill towards him but I feel that he may not achieve his stated goal of CL football at Spuds at least as long as Jose remains there.
As I said the other day, he’s a good player who is good at the things that don’t stand out in terms of sexy stats. When he arrived I believed he could have been good at those more obvious and visible things too, but his passing and touch seemed to suffer over the last season and a half, but he was still doing the ugly stuff well. Fortunately for us, Ralph sorted the team out a bit during the break so that when he was left out, we were covered on that stuff.
Carl Anka is a complete muppet who just regurgitates what he finds on twitter. One of those fans who works from a keyboard along with dozens of others using the same www.football. xx site
I mean, that’s demonstrably false, but whatever. His articles on Saints this season has gone into such weird minor detail that he had a piece where he interviewed running coaches to discuss Danny Ings body position during sprints. I think he can be too effusive with his praise of certain players (Che Adams) but he’s doing good stuff for the Athletic. Don’t use Twitter much anymore so can’t speak for his tweets.
