Do we believe the article that says there is a pre-set clause to a promoted Fulham for £8m, or that other clubs are after him and possibly a return to Saints?

Ralph was asked about Reed coming back earlier in the year. Said that they were monitoring him closely and that he was doing very well. Doesn’t seem like the thing you say about a player with an option to leave but who knows.

 

I agree. Just a good example of how much crap gets put out there in the media, whichever one is true.

 

It was reported way back last summer that Fulham had an option to buy Reed, so that's nothing new.

 

I looked up Fulham’s announcement from signing him and it has weird wording: “could be made permanent at a later date.” So probably not just a standard option to buy. Maybe it was dependent on promotion. In any case the deal could well have changed as Fulham had to ask us for an extension to see out the season. Who knows?

There are options and obligations. Obligations are concrete, no escape as Leeds are finding with the Augustin deal they are trying to get out of. Options means that the parent club have to accept the offer but they can also accept offers from other clubs and it’s up for the player to decide where they go or stay (Toby choosing Spurs over us).

Football cynic viewpoint is that if a club is officially not interested it means transfer fee is being negotiated or the transfer fee is too high, unofficially not interested we are checking with his agent to see if the player wants to come before declaring interest in player.

I do rate Wilson, But if we are to target one player from B'mouth I rather we target Brooks.
