Pretty good season for the lad. How good can he be though? There's certainly potential there, It's like to see him a bit more next season. https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/spo...news/liverpool-nike-kit-curtis-jones-18697044
He's got tough competition on that left side of midfield with Wijnaldum and Keita ahead of him so I think it'll be cup games again and off the bench unless he really ups his game and forces himself into the team. Certainly needs to work on the defensive side of his game.
He's got the talent and just as important, the will to improve. He's very coachable and that's a really good sign. I expect to see him in the cup games and possibly some CL group games.
I would personally rather see him than Chamberlain in the team. When Keita inevitably gets injured he will get a fair bit of time.
Looking forward to seeing how Curtis develops. He already looks very confident and comfortable when he's in the team. Not sure how high his ceiling is but at the moment, he looks like he will become a very good squad option at the very least.
That interview posted the other day gives a great insight into his mindset. The boy's got his head screwed on. He's taking nothing for granted and is looking to improve and get better and better. Some youngsters have let it go to their head and thought they'd arrived on signing their first pro contract. Curt is taking it a step at a time and appears to be being well advised. None of this matters of course unless there's talent there to go along with it. He's also got the talent imo. I think if his development continues on the same trajectory , we've got a real player here.
Chamberlain has won me over a little bit but I get the feeling he's a bit of a sulker if he isn't starting. Jones seems better suited to the left side but he's young enough to be able to play either side and needs to make sure he can do that if he wants more game time.
Yeah it's chocca in there, Shakira will surely go though and Milner will play less. Fabinho a specialist at DM. Still 5 players for 2 slots then. Jones is not going to get in the team often next season if you look at it like that.
Seen lots of reports saying he'll get more game time with Lallana leaving. I've a issue with this; Lallana didn't get minutes!!!
Nothing wrong with being unhappy at not starting so long as they're ready if called upon during the game. This is something Trent needs to work on too, he's terrible coming off the bench. Fortunately, it didn't happen often.
Yes he shouldn't be happy if in the bench but I don't feel he's had the right attitude when he comes on if you know what I mean.
I'm still unsure on Wilson and Grujic I think it's down to their desire to improve and look at another season on loan, Milner is then done, Wijnaldum getting older and they may have an opportunity. That's a tough call for the players and the club as both have potential and we don't want to lose them if they can improve.
Give him the ball in a tight area, surrounded by opponents, and he receives it, head up, and passes it to another teammate, then makes himself available to receive it again. Sounds so simple that. Amazing how many players cant do that.
Yes, one of the few. Keeping the ball is better than having to win it back, as the philosophy goes. Impressed by Jones' calmness on the ball for one so young. And plays with his head up without needing to look at the ball. Fundamental stuff, but not all can do it. Ideal midfield player, as theres a hint of a nasty tackler in him too. I like that.
