The talk is that the trialist at Argyle from a Championship club could be Cameron Pring of Bristol C....22 yrs old left back.

Never played for City....been out on loan to 7 clubs and played 21 games in total.....Guernsey, Merthyr, Aldershot, Hereford, Newport, Cheltenham & Walsall.

No real record at all to judge his worth....I can't see him improving our squad.

There's talk that the trialist is Lewis Page (left back)...released by Charlton.....since joining Charlton in 2017 Page has suffered from injuries and hasn't completed a full season since.....If it is him then we would be taking on a player with problems.....we do get drawn to this type of player....because they come cheap but with ability.

Lee Bowyer has obviously lost patience with Page and his lack of being injury free.....he has managed only 27 games in three seasons....the fans call him...sick-note.

Ryan Lowe did say that he would name the trialist this week when he came....so maybe it ain't Page.

Further to the above....it has been noted that there has been some social media chat between Lewis Page and some Argyle players.....for what that's worth.

Early days yet, regarding bringing in new players.....as season 2019/20 ended we lost the following players back to their parent clubs.

Palmer, Hardie, Bakinson, Cooper and Josh Grant....(loanees)

Also lost Sarcevic and McFadzean who refused new contracts and left.

To break even we need to at least replace these players with similar quality....so far we have done.

1.....Hardie.....Hardie retained on a years loan.
2.....Bakinson.....is he still in the mix ?
    3.....Cooper.....looks like we've lost him.....can't afford Peterborough's asking price.
4.....Josh Grant.....gone to Bristol Rovers....didn't we/him fancy being here.....or did Rovers give him a better contract.
5.....Palmer.....looks like we've settled for Michael Cooper plus bringing back McCormick.....only time will tell if this has weakened an important position.
6.....Sarcevic.....?.....will he try Nouble for this position....surely not just brought him in as another striker.
7.....McFadzean.....?.....if it's the trialist ...maybe Page...would this be a fitness gamble...(assuming that it is Page of course).

There is an awful lot of work to be done just to bring the squad up to last seasons strength....let alone strengthening it further to compete in Division One.

But as I said....still early days....I assume a lot of behind closed doors bargaining going on.....one possible target might have been Sercombe...but he's settled for Cheltenham which is more local for him.

Ryan Lowe said he was already to go once the transfer window opened.....is he finding it tougher than he thought to lure good player to PAFC...one stop from America for some....especially girl friends/families who want their man to stay nearer home.

Of course transfer decisions might be affected by today's EFL vote on the salary cap proposals.

For Division One it means that.....wages/bonuses/agent fees will be capped at a total expenditure of £2.5 million.

Division Two would be limited to £1.25 million.

    Details are here

    https://www.pafc.co.uk/news/2020/august/efl-statement-salary-caps/

The Championship arrangement hasn't been agreed and hopefully a gulf won't be allowed to develop between that division and League 1, whereby relegation can be catastrophic given ongoing player contracts can't be varied one year to the next,

This is the EFL throwing in the towel really, in that it's a very arbitrary arrangement, simple to enforce but very crude. I imagine it would have been detrimental to PAFC if we'd been in League 1 last year. We'd have been into the top half of average attendances at least and maybe the top third and therefore presumably the top half or third of purchasing power. Quite how that equates to actual wage expenditure we don't know of course.

I usually say I will wait till I've seen them play but at the moment that could be quite a while and halfway through the season. Or longer. You just have to trust Lowe and his team to find the right players.

Plans for the salary cap in Div 1&2 are unlawful and unenforceable say the Professional Football Association (PFA).

The PFA reacted to Fridays votes by saying it is "disappointed with the outcome".

The legal advice we have received is clear that the salary cap envisaged by the EFL would be unlawful and unenforceable.

The PFA has already served its notice of arbitration on the EFL.and until such times that arbitration id determined one way or another the new regulations should have no effect.

    BBC News...8/8/20

My thoughts.....not surprised that this has happened...all that a salary cap does is to level all clubs down to a common denominator....how can you expect Sunderland to spend no more than Accrington Stanley....when there is such a vast difference in support paying at the turnstiles.....and Argyle who would be well above the average gate receipts would also be penalized.

MATCH DAY....behind closed doors game against Parkway....1pm kick off.

Ryan Lowe has told us that Ryan Hardie will not be taking part....he is at present training with his parent club Blackpool.....his partner is due to give birth any day soon....so he has been allowed to stay oop north until this happens.

Also possible that Frank Nouble will also not get a run out either.....Lowe said that Nouble has had only two full days training at the moment with Argyle and he doesn't want to risk him.

We should all be able to watch this game free....there is a link that we can click on ...go to Argyles YouTube site and find it.

Absolutely agree. Based on last year there's every reason to believe in them.

Been watching the first half against Parkway....1-1 at H/T.....their goal was a free kick 30 yards out...how unearth did they score from there....McCormick was nowhere near it.....they improved after that and had most of the possession.

I hope ifollow get a better picture than this one... poor quality and very jerky....like two frames a second....Charlie Chaplin black and white 1920/30's come to mind. No commentary, although you can hear two people in the background talking....can't recognize the players....no squad numbers been announced as yet so it's guess work at who is who.
