Thanks folks, that was some Season ! EPL (Premier League), Sunday 26/07/2020 : West Ham United 1-1 Aston Villa Survival achieved. Jack Grealish gave us the lead late on, only for it to be cancelled out by a parabolic deflection ! Anyway, 35 points guaranteed 17th place and AVFC stayed true to form ... keeping us on edge to the end.
EPL (Premier League), Sunday 26/07/2020 : West Ham United 1-1 Aston Villa After this result AVFC's total Form Points remained at 35 ... that is, points after 38 games. The maximum available fell to 35 points, with 0 points left to play for. AVFC are below par and 17th in the table, with 35 points and GD at -26 from 38 games. When asked how I thought AVFC would fare, I thought we would get 35 points and so it has proved. Fortunately my conclusion then, that 35 points may not be enough to stay up, has been proven wrong. 26/07/2020 : Relegation 'Mini League' matches, 38th EPL game. Sunday 26th July Arsenal 3-2 Watford - 34 points, 19th, relegated. Everton 1-3 Bournemouth - 34 points, 18th, relegated. Manchester City 5-0 Norwich City - 21 points, 20th, relegated. West Ham United 1-1 Aston Villa - 35 points, 17th, safe.
Well done Villa. A PL club! Well done to Brighton also. (My second team!!!?) I would like to say Spurs are a CL club, but not after so many Spursy performances this season!
Cheers, BG. Spurs was my club in London (and still is). Solving the problems at AVFC at root. 28/07/2020 : AVFC have confirmed today that the Sporting Director, nickname 'Suso', has left the Club. Aston Villa can confirm that Jesus Garcia Pitarch’s contract as Sporting Director has ended. Mr Pitarch, who is known as Suso, joined Aston Villa in October 2018. The Board would like to thank Suso for his hard work in restructuring the playing squad after the change of ownership in 2018, and for setting in place foundations for future success including the reorganisation of our Academy. There were many complaints about AVFC's recruitment policy during the 2019-2020 Season and this move today seems to vindicate those complaints. Hopefully the Manager will be given full control of recruitment (subject to finances) from now on.
30/07/2020 : AVFC have today replaced 'Suso' as Sporting Director with Johan Lange. Aston Villa is delighted to announce the appointment of Johan Lange as the Club’s new Sporting Director. Lange joins from Danish club FC Copenhagen where he has served as Technical Director for the last six years. In his role as Sporting Director, Lange will report directly to the Board. Johan Lange said: “Aston Villa is one of the most famous clubs in European football with a rich history, but it is also a progressive club looking to the future. I am excited and honoured to be given this opportunity to contribute to the club’s ambitious strategy to become a force in Premier League football again.” Full details in the link below. If we want AVFC to 'become a force again' then the first thing we do is retain our best players ! Link : https://www.avfc.co.uk/News/2020/07/30/johan-lange-sporting-director
