Apparently Fulham had a right to buy on Reed, £8m if promoted and a lesser figure if they weren't

I'm in the if Ralph wants him/can't judge him too much on his Saints appearances camp. He might turn out to be a cheap and very capable option but I feel that the club will probably cash in now and use the money to buy McKinnie or some other young prospect.

    £47million squillion. :emoticon-0110-tongu

He has played strong seasons in different teams. That player goes for comfortably more than the fees talked about if he’s not sold under contract pressure.

Some fans won’t think he’s good enough for the division and that’s fine. There are others who disagree. At least one of them is Parker and he wants to bring him in and give him an opportunity. I would like for him to get his chance at Saints. Purely because I think he has the qualities we need in the position for the style we’re going to be playing. It’s not about sentiment. Harry Reed will be a Premiership player next year and making regular starts. Most likely with Fulham because as I said pages ago. He’s likely going to move now.

Moi El has played well for Celtic in a very different team. A different system and different circumstances. He’s an attacking player who has played against teams with weaker defenders and for a team which dominates games. Of course he’s done well. But he’s not coming here to ‘work hard against the ball’ and run his bollocks off.

I’d not heard that before. I’d be surprised because Ralph kept getting asked about him and kept saying how he was doing very well and that they were watching him closely. Who knows though. I’m sure we’ll sell him now their promotion is sealed.

I don’t know what people are basing reeds worth on, or the idea he is better than Romeu.

He’s home grown so we would love him to be better but we’ve seen so little of him. Romeu has been a midfield staple for 3 (4?) seasons.

He looked neat and tidy watching the play off games but didnt show me anything that would make me think he had a long term part to play for us going foward.

I just saw it online today, it's from the Telegraph - so could well be complete rubbish

"Fulham have an option to sign midfielder Harrison Reed and make him their first signing after earning promotion to the Premier League on Tuesday night.

Scott Parker made Reed, 25, a key member of his squad this season and he played 27 times in central midfield. In the season-long deal with Southampton there was an option to purchase him for a lower fee if they remained in the second-tier or £8 million with promotion."

The Telegraph are usually spot on when it comes to Saints, with Jeremy Wilson quite in-the-know. Who wrote the article in question?

Right, so you are saying I can’t judge him cos he’s hardly played. Fair enough.

But then, if he’s hardly played, how can you say he isn’t good enough?

Even without a purchase clause, I'd imagine that refusing to allow Reed to move would be desperately unpopular. He has earned the chance to play regularly for a club that wants him. Whether he is good enough or not probably isn't germane anymore, because he'll prove that one way or another somewhere else.

It's really upto Ralph to try and convince Reed if he does indeed want him to come back play, nd sign a new deal.

Not if there is an option to purchase in his loan agreement. If there was, I'd suggest that an indictment of Ralph's view.

to be honest Susan, I’ve to’d and fro’d enough. I’m happy to see what Ralph thinks and that’s what I’ve said is most important.

I think we're past that point. He hasn't played for us in three years (and hasn't played significant minutes in five), he's 25, he has one year left on his deal, and a PL team that he just got promoted alongside wants him. The odds of Reed being interested in signing a new deal here have to be exceedingly low.

That is why I said, it's up to Ralph to convince him... if indeed he does want him. If not then I'm more than happy to sell and bring in a much better CM. To replace Pierre.

I like Reed or the new Paul Scholes as he was once labelled. But he hasn't fulfilled that early promise. Ralf would like his energy and I would be happy with his judgment either way on this.

As for Romeu, best 5 million we ever spent.
