Iceland and France put corrupt politicians in jail. We put them in the House of Lords. Corruption is rife since the latest Government has come into power it has now gone into overdrive, mainstream media news outside of the UK state that we're are living in one of the most corrupt countries worldwide. For example: The ennoblement of the billionaire newspaper owner, Evgeny Lebedev, came just a week after the intelligence and security committee drew notice to the growth of Russian influence at the heart of British politics and business. Mr Lebedev, the son of a former KGB agent. Also making one’s own younger brother a lord has to be a questionable act. The impact of austerity on some of the UK’s advisory bodies, cuts to the police and Crown Prosecution Service, mean that UK corruption and fraud is currently unlikely to get investigated, let alone prosecuted. What are your thoughts ? Where do you see corruption getting worse? Has the recent Covid pandemic made UK corruption less news-worthy?
Careful you will have the scum going on about premier league corruption. Joking apart you only have to look at Jeffery Archer the whole country or more to the point establishment is corrupt to the core. I watched a documentary programme by the BBC recently about Rupert Murdoch I found it quite frightening to be honest. I would advise any british citizen to watch that it should be on iplayer
You’ve only got to look at the Church the bbc the police force and parliament, nothing escapes corruption.
And that security report/committee was headed up by Dominic Grieve, the biggest Remoaner in the UK. Think he had more than one axe to grind with the Govt, as he also lost the whip. A totally biased and one sided report if ever there was one. Oh Yes, the whole world is corrupt. Bart
the biggest corruption comrade Corbyn, the former house speaker who is supposed to be neutral, Saddo khan the list on the left is endless
Protecting accused rapists. A government who breaks the law(including their own legislation) then block all investigation. BREXIT just months away with no courts to answer to. I'd be less worried about ex opposition leaders and more concerned about the totalitarian Britain that's forming, and soon the only way to stop it will be revolution. The working class right(that being a thing is beyond moronic) can't see it happening right Infront of them. We're are verging on the darkest period in our modern history make no mistake The way we cozy up to Russia, the yanks with Israel, both countries rapidly sweeping towards the far right. God help us.
I'm not sure that corruption is any worse than it's ever been it is just that with our 24/7 news channels it is becoming a lot more apparent than previously. Corruption was absolutely rife in this country through the 1970's in particular but the news reporting, such as it was, was condensed in to 30 minute slots three times a day or brought to us by newspaper moguls who many would argue were part of the problem and it was certainly not in their best interests to shine their light in to some of the more murky corners! I think we are now seeing clearly what in previous generations had been very well hidden which hopefully should lead to more accountability.
I recall from my youth that if you wanted to learn a trade in the yards, it would 'help' if you had a close relative there. That was going to make a huge difference to the rest of your life, in terms of how much you earnrd and it came down, in the end, to who you knew. So it seems that theres nothing new about it all. It goes through ALL strands of Society and especialy through the political classes. and to be honest it's not that surprising. Most of us are happy enough to help a friend. Real corruption is just carrying this idea rather too far.
Real corruption is not about helping a friend at all, but about raw, ugly, power, over others to profit yourself.
This corrupt government delayed placing an order for life saving PPE at the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic just so their Hedge Fund Manager backers could short the shares in that company and make a quick £115m.
This country is ****ed! https://news.sky.com/story/revealed...Ar6_jEyb-zXrWhPQ8dy93F6kTMaKtcbIMotWRiM7hspTs Police forces across the UK employ at least 211 officers and PCSOs who have been convicted of criminal offences, a Sky News investigation has found. But the actual number is likely to be much higher as just a third of UK police forces revealed how many of their serving officers had broken the law. Sky News sent freedom of information requests to the UK's 45 territorial police forces, as well as British Transport Police and the Ministry of Defence Police, asking for details of police officers' convictions. Here is a breakdown of their responses. For the full story, click here. Sky News did not receive a response from Durham Police. Northumbria Police refused to reveal how many of their officers had criminal convictions, saying retrieving the information would cost too much.
