    Union Pacific 4012, nicknamed "Big Boy", is a 4-8-8-4 type locomotive built by American Locomotive Company in November 1941. It is among the world's largest steam locomotives. One of 25 built, No. 4012 is one of eight of its type to survive the advent of the diesel era. Referred to as an "articulated" locomotive, because it has more than one set of drivers, Big Boy weighs 1,250,000 pounds (570,000 kg). This locomotive worked for 21 years hauling freight between Cheyenne, Wyoming, and Ogden, Utah, logging over 1,000,000 miles (1,600,000 km) before its retirement in 1962.

    No. 4012 was offered to Steamtown, U.S.A. along with a 4-6-6-4 Challenger and an office car. Steamtown founder F. Nelson Blount, faced with space limitations at Steamtown in 1962, could only accept the 4012.[2] The Big Boy was on display at Bellows Falls, Vermont, until 1984, when Steamtown moved to Scranton, Pennsylvania. Since the Steamtown turntable and roundhouse are too small to accommodate the size and weight of 4012, it has remained outdoors since its arrival at Scranton.

    3M™ Double Coated Urethane Foam Tape 4016 is a thick, double-coated open-cell urethane foam tape with a 62 lb. densified kraft paper liner and is ideal for applications such as mounting interior signage and nameplates. Its 62 mil foam provides handling convenience and cushioning.



    We manufactured this tape using our 3M™ Adhesive 100 for a strong, permanent bond that works with the open-cell foam structure to provide you with high shear strength. This tape is a great solution for bonding various surfaces indoors or for exterior applications where it will be protected from the environment. Its conformable foam and adhesive combine to provide long-term holding at temperatures up to 200°F/93°C. The acrylic adhesive is an ideal formula for bonding to various types of surfaces for mounting, joining and holding applications. By using a robust 62 lb. densified kraft paper release liner, this tape provides reliable performance for industrial applications, such as die-cutting and automated dispensers. The liner also helps reduce edge roll and protects the tape from humidity extremes.

    Open cell foams are commonly used to create separate between component panels where a degree of separation is needed to dampen or prevent vibration, as a thermal insulation barrier and protect against contamination, but where a measure of airflow is still necessary, such as with electronic components where air flow helps keep components cool.

    4022 MAINS POWER SUPPLY
    The Barrett 4022 Power Supply with built-in charger is designed to provide regulated power to one 4050 Transceiver and one accessory. The 4022 also has provision for a battery backup system in case of mains power failure. The battery backup incorporates a true automatic no-break change over circuit with a battery charging system, which restricts the output to the maximum 13.8 V of the battery.

    The Barrett 4022 is a low noise switch mode power supply which delivers 24 V at 18 amps continuously. It supports a mains input supply that can vary from 85 V AC to 264 V AC This combined with the ability of the power supply to operate with a Sealed Lead Acid (SLA) backup battery, makes the 4022 ideal for use in areas where mains voltages vary dramatically and occasionally fail altogether.

    Union Pacific 4023

    Union Pacific 4023 is a class 4-8-8-4Big Boy built by the American Locomotive Company in Schenectady, New York in November 1944. Although this is one of eight surviving Big Boys being preserved across the United States, this is the only surviving Big Boy that was part of the second group of locomotives built in 1944. All of the other surviving Big Boys were from the first group built in 1941.

    History
    In the early 1940’s, the Union Pacific Railroad designed the only simple articulated steam locomotive with a 4-8-8-4 wheel arrangement, which would be known as the "Big Boy" and would be the largest steam locomotive in the world. These locomotives began being constructed in 1941 by the American Locomotive Company in Schenectady, New York, and No. 4023 is one of the last five of these built in 1944. Just like all of its sister engines, No. 4023 was assigned for fast and heavy freight trains through the Wasatch Mountains and over Sherman Hill. Instead of being scrapped after it’s last run in 1959, No. 4023 was stored in the Union Pacific's roundhouse in Cheyenne, Wyoming along with 4-6-6-4 Challenger No. 3985. What might’ve likely been the reason for 4023’s mint condition to be saved for preservation is that it was given a class 3 overhaul in 1957. In 1974, No. 4023 was cosmetically restored and towed to Omaha, Nebraska for static display in front of the Union Pacific's locomotive shops. After the locomotive shops were closed in 1988, No. 4023 was moved again to the Durham Western History Museum in Downtown Omaha.

    In Spring of 2005, No. 4023 was moved by truck on a highway to a more permanent home in Kenefick Park alongside an EMD DDA40X No. 6900. During one of its cosmetic restorations, a lot functional appliances were replaced with new, mock appliances, including the safety valves, whistle, lubricators, and a new boiler jacket.

    Today, No. 4023 is still on display at Kenefick, and with fellow Big Boy No. 4014[successfully restored to operation by the Union Pacific as part of their heritage fleet, restoring No. 4023 is unlikely to happen anytime soon.
