Does anyone else find it strange how many Norwich players are being linked with £25m/£30m+ moves to top European clubs?

I'm not saying they are all crap, but it is amusing that about half their starting line-up are worth £25m/£30m when they have just been relegated with just 21 points.

For context - the following are all rumoured to be off for big money:

Todd Cantwell
Jamal Lewis
Max Aarons
Emi Buendia
Ben Godfrey

Surely if they were all that good then Norwich would have at least been competitive this year

 

ive said it before but they have a very talented group of young players. If individually they’d been at other clubs they would be getting a lot more attention imo. Just all of them together in the same team didn’t work at all

Would happily have about 6 or 7 of their players here, looks like we are going to be priced out of them though

Arsenal to make 55 staff redundant.

 

I heard they may re-deploy them in the trophy room...

 

And yet they just offered Willian of chelsea a mega contract. It's disgusting.

 

And Aubameyang a million a month apparently.

 

Sadly as a business Aubameyang will bring in a lot of money in shirt sales, etc. Not saying it's right..

I had the same thought after reading the BBC "gossip" column. Just how much of this is genuine or spurious is debatable although I have also seen similar comments regarding a few Bournemouth players as well. Norwich were truly abject this season and I am a bit surprised by the enthusiasm for their staff. What is telling is that of the squad from the other relegated team, only Deaney has been linked with a move away from Watford. It did cross my mind as to whether the football "community" is aware of the issues regarding motivation or whether Pearson was undermined by his playing staff.

Shame that Brentford did not get promoted last night. It would have been good to have a totally new face playing in the Prem.

 

Quite funny that Fraser rejected the chance to play the final games of Bournemouth's season and potentially save them from relegation all for a "huge move" to Fulham or Palace.

 

My thoughts exactly. I know it’s Bournemouth but I thought Fraser was so out of order refusing to play and try and save the club that plucked him from obscurity to give him his chance in the Premier League. Just another one assist for Wilson or a goal from him would have made such a difference. He went on record as saying he wanted 100k a week and he pretty much gave up playing when he heard Arsenal were apparently interested (about a season ago). Now he’s being offered half that at the mighty Palace/Fulham...

 

Agreed. It’s a bit like Ake moving to City from Bournemouth. Many were on twitter saying he was useless because Bournemouth were relegated and shipped 60+ goals... I had to point out that one player doesn’t make a defence/team.

 

Re: Norwich, it's also that £25m isn't massive money. Those five are all quite young, and all save Cantwell are signed through at least 2023. Don't know whether Norwich would get that for all five, but they're well within their rights to ask it.
