    I didn’t know they were still going other than the gyms.

    If it’s the gym and lewisite side someone will buy them in a blink I’d have thought. That’s a lot of jobs and a lot of people affected though so another big ‘oh ****’

    I don’t know if he’s still involved at Wigan but if he has got a little bit it’s a big kick in the balls for them

    I think they sold out completely on that side mate, I think Whelan son took over for a while then stepped down prior to takeover.

    Be a big human cost of that goes under though, and a real shame. He’s not my cup of tea Dave Whelan but his is a fantastic story and what he built was fantastic achievement.

    That said, even when they had stores up here, it never entered your thoughts to go in. You either want a bargain or you want an exclusive in sportswear, they had neither.

    **** Dave Whelen - I worked for JJB back in the day and the pay and conditions were utter ****e. He's a prick whos made fortunes out of paying people **** all.

    It’s not so much about Dave Whelan though as it is about 10,000 or so folks livelihoods mate.

    Pay and conditions being **** is likely a lot better than job hunting in the current climate.

    Hopefully someone saves the day, certainly the fitness clubs, which are very good, are a viable business, I’d have thought.
