Football is a young idiots game and with the revelation that the PL is a closed shop I don’t see the point in any of it. Four of the “big 6” were the FA Cup semi finalists, four of them finished top 4, the rich have immediately been spending £40m+ on players and bench warmers this window whilst we negotiate for weeks with free Ryan Fraser to presumably replace Wolves-bound St Max.

You either have wealth and ambition and it’s worth a look or you’re treading water gasping for breath. Under Ashley we will always be the latter and until he goes I’m fully finished with the club sadly.

My interest in football comes and goes and right now its on the way out again.

I'll see how next season goes, if it looks like another relegation I'll be done.

    Great summary, absolutey bang on.

it’s a procession and it’s beyond pointless. Thickos like Merson offering “expert” advice when really it’s just about gambling and other teams knowing their place. Football needs a radical overhaul. I can see a situation where the elite go off and do their own NFL thing and the rest of the clubs are more like the US college football scene.

They're flogging a dead horse to the majority of football fans.

Whats on offer to the rest is what's now considered the prize of simply being in the premier league, but in reality that prize is being fed to the sharks.

We've just discovered we never had any chance of winning against all odds.. We had the golden key only to find they don't open anything

Almost end of the road for me.

I've not been to SJP in years thanks to the fat man.

No longer have Sky or BT

No longer interested in who we sign

I don't watch any other team either these days.

As said by others unless you follow one of the top 6 football is on deaths door.

Our future relies on relegation tbh.

We need to go down and stay there. Then we will get new owners.

Possibly but my suspicions are that we will fall away like boro and Sunderland. there's so much competition now. The landscape of football at at our clubs has changed and moved on so much that you need very very rich owners and sadly they're running out. Nufc is not the attractive propersition we like to think it is imo... We've been overlooked for alternatives until it starts to look more and more difficult / expensive an operation with more and more risk of colossal losses..

I wouldn’t be surprised if there was no Newcastle United in 10 years time.

Parts of it were fun. Has anyone else noticed the sheer volume of content being shovelled now about the “good old days”? Best games ever, “on this day”, type bollocks?

Seems like a media offensive to invoke some long lost memory and kinship with our clubs, because they know we’ve all cottoned on to the fact its all just a pantomime now.

    Hopefully.

Sorry but it's where I'm at there's no hope so what's the point?

The takeover lottery was the only one and it's denied... I wouldbt be surprised if they come back in a year or two and buy another club..

The Saudi's, if interested, will eventually buy Man U with impunity and within a month. or maybe Spurs/Arsenal.

I'd really like one final shot at connecting with the club. I don't actually believe the KSA investment was how it was painted. Too many questions about Staveley. It wouldn't have made us challengers. Besides which, I don't want KSA association, not if it can be avoided. What I'd like is a Fenway/Fosun/King Power arrangement. A group with a vested interest in improving Newcastle United and some backing to do it. I think we might still get it, but honestly what I'm expecting is an Ellis Short chancer to turn up and get us relegated. The odds are still on Ashley piloting us into the Championship next season anyway. If we're kicking off with Ashley owning the club, I'm completely done.

There is no other buyers.. The worlds on its knees

This takeover was an unlikely saviour of our club.. We would have done well... Thats the thing for me it's the long implications of it being denied. Its not just going to be OK....

No covid 19 and it might have been OK.. A killer virus came bang in line with our golden ticket

I'm done with football. I'd rather play golf (up to five times a week, and where I get great personal satisfaction) then pull my hair out over mike ashley.
