I know you tell us that you have had training in corporate finance and perhaps you see the rest of us as lesser mortals. However if you seriously believe that having a willing seller has no relevance in making a sale then I'm sure you would be within your rights to insist on a refund for your training.

Guesswork is the moody, broody one, with the real skills. Bollocks rolls over the bonnet and gets the girl.

Has relevance, always does have relevance. Had no significant relevance in this context.
    Keep the comedy interpretations coming.
20 posts of people purporting to tell me what I told them, and none of them have told me what I told them.

I have just quit over a decade of loyal support and match attendance. I hate everything about the mess we are in. But I won’t just succumb to the drivel arguments against me and back down.

We were never, ever, ever close to being bought and the asking price wasn’t the issue.
The asking price had relevance; It mattered; it was high... but it was all academic.

The PL priced out the hopefuls. The drop meant the vultures sat back and waited. The slide into oblivion means even the insane now realise it’s a cash pit gamble to get back to the glory days.
Covid has pretty much kicked the arse out of sport as a cash cow, and Smart money is blue chip assets, and gold.

I yearn for better days, and someone who can follow logic and facts in a forum thread.

I’ll give you one more nugget and then I give up with this...
(price is relevant, but not really relevant when your buyers are chumps and Chinese was pretty much it in summary).

At least one of the interested “bid” groups was courted and enticed purely as a photo opportunity for the family. It helps to let the fans know you are “trying”.
It was less that they didn’t want to sell, though, and more there was no one asking that motivated it. Classic agent’s trick, with a different slant on the victim.

Pretty much what people guessed on here every time a photo op popped up...

The only thing I’d asked is how you know, what you claim to know?
Not asking who you are, but at least some steer towards how you know would increase your credibility no end.

    Talk to the lawyers.
But they won’t “talk” as it loses clients. Off the record they sometimes let you know when you might be right... Especially if you were at uni with some of them.

Part of what I know comes from two people who either have a lot in common with many at the club, or did have. A fair bit has come from posters on here who have added to the gossip I have picked up, and filled in some of the gaps. They won’t post it as it tends to make sure you never get told anything again.
I won’t betray any sources as It’s the first rule of being in the know! Truth be told, it’s less the law and more more information that is my niche these days !
Look back at what happened and deep down you know it makes sense.

Actually, **** bad timing was as much our enemy. We would have been an attractive Championship punt, but PL made us a newly rich entity that always looked over priced among more shiny baubles.
Why are the Allams wanting to sell but doing nothing to facilitate it? Because you can’t make people want to buy you when recession is the future and we have been artificially high in value since the drop.

I can't for the life of me work out if I'm in the presence of Warren Buffett or Hyacinth Bucket ?

    A White Knight is needed.

Think we are missing the point here.

The contract situations on past players and managers shows what wonderful negotiators the Allams are. You cannot negotiate with a snake(s).

Also ask Barnsley what wonderful negotiators they are. Actually negotiate doesn’t even come into the gruesome twosomes vocab.

I am hardly ever in the know about anything at City. Sometimes I get told stuff, but it’s mainly something that will come out later anyway at some time or other.
I post about Grieve not having cash to put on the table as I know from the public records in the USA that tell a different story to that posted on here.
I just happened to be in the club offices when the Grieve bid was ignored, having a cup of coffee with someone in there who took a call whilst I was with him. The first and last time I have been invited in.
The facts posted on CI at the time or just after were accurate and a true reflection of the publicly available information.
Grieve had no money, he had access to funding that was actually to bail out a failed cannabis irrigation supply company in Nevada.
I might not be in the know, I might be wrong about Grieve, but here is a question for those who maintain he could have bought the club.

What club has he bought that he is still with now and what has happened with his soccer investment business?

Has he gone yet? Obviously completing the sale of the club takes time but in these final days it must be really difficult preparing a farewell statement to the fans he thinks so much about. I bet he's gutted.

No idea what really happened with the Grieve deal, and maybe im missing the obvious.. but what would be the point of pretending to have the funds to purchase a football club? What would you have to gain?

Also I thought once the negotiations get to a certain stage, some kind of deposit is paid, in the millions as the Dai family did... why would anyone do that unless you had the funds to complete the deal?

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/37327263

"The consortium paid a seven-figure deposit before the deal collapsed.

The Hull Daily Mail reports the sum paid was around £6m and the consortium's period of exclusivity is now over. At least one other consortium is interested in opening negotiations, the newspaper adds."

A bit more flesh put on the bare bones of the story.

ps do be careful posting more or less word for word something Ehab alluded to in the recent interview. Don't want to see you being labelled an apologist or even Ehab himself on here
