Greater Manchester placed under Covid restrictions on separate households meeting along with plenty of other areas... Bradford, East Lancs, Kirklees.... be careful out there people...
Daughter moved in to her house in Greater Manchester at 4.30pm today...at midnight she is locked down and can’t have people round! Oh well...at least she’ll have chance to empty the boxes!
Wonder if they'll put files in the cakes so we can get out of lockdown... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-53598637
Real shame this. Always liked a wander round Humber car collection leaves Hull forever as gutted owner calls 'end of an era' The owner of the Humber car collection Allan Marshall says it is an 'opportunity lost for the city' Dan Kemp The heartbroken owner of the world's biggest collection of Humber cars has been watching them being loaded onto a transporter - never to return to Hull. Allan Marshall's impressive collection is one of the city's best kept secrets, however, it has attracted celebrity and royal visitors to the old potato yard where they were on display. In 2018, he shared the sad news that they were up for sale but, after failing to find buyers, they went for auction recently where a successful bidder failed to pay up. With the building that houses them sold, Allan had no other choice than to put them into storage meaning they have been taken away from the city once and for all. The amazing collection, that was started by his dad, Reg, 60 years ago before he took it on 20 years later, has been loaded onto a transporter bound for Staffordshire - a huge opportunity lost for the city according to Mr Marshall. please log in to view this image Owner Allan Marshall has watched his pride and joy be loaded onto a transporter (Image: Katie Pugh) "I'm proud of Humber. I've never gone searching for fame but if you Google Humber, you come to us," he said. "I still have people coming in almost crying saying about how we are closing. "We have no funding. We are the only Trip Advisor place with five stars in Hull. There's comments from people all over the world. "I've put Hull on the map. "In every classic car magazine there has been a feature with me. "I've had more people visit from Australia than I have had from Hull." please log in to view this image Humber Car Museum is one of Hull's highest rated visitor attractions although it is a secret to many(Image: Katie Pugh) Allan has also starred on TV shows, including Antiques Roadshow, Collectaholics and Flog It, to showcase his amazing collection and knowledge of Humber cars. But many of Allan's best memories stem back to loaning the cars out for weddings and some of his celebrity visitors, while also hoping his father would be in support of the tough decision he has had to make. "It's the end of an era. I just hope my father isn't turning in his grave. I've done my best for him," he said. "I'm very, very sad. My cars are being loaded up as we speak. "It is so sad to see them go. They are all going onto the loader one at a time. They are bringing old memories back and memories of the brides who used them. "A member of the Swedish royal family has been in a few months ago. please log in to view this image The cars have been loaded up to be put into storage (Image: Katie Pugh) "Jools Holland is a Humber owner and popped in when he had a show in Hull. He was here for two hours." Included among his collection is a motor driven by Buddy Holly which he found abandoned in a scrap yard and one used for the wedding of King Edward VIII and Wallis Simpson. On one occasion, he even turned down Madonna's agent who wanted to borrow one of his classics for a film she was set to star in. Mr Marshall said: "£150,000 in the grand scheme of things would have paid for all the cars and memorabilia. It's nothing. "The museum doesn't bag enough revenue and there is no help to keep us in business. please log in to view this image Allan had been collecting cars since the 1970s after taking over from his father Reg (Image: Jack Harland) "We can't afford to pay the rates. "It's embarrassing. You won't replace this. You can't replace this collection for £1m. "They are going into storage. The building is being sold. "It is going to Charles Hudson's Auctioneers in Staffordshire until he finds a buyer. It is costing a fortune to move them."
