Surely it would have to rise to the high court before the allams had to pay for bailiffs.

Considering the boat is essentially the Titanic, that's a good thing right now.

You don't need to trouble the High Court to appoint bailiffs, they can enforce any County Court judgement.

And the person who appoints the bailiffs doesn't pay for them, unless the person they go after has no money, the debtor just has the cost added to the debt.

Not charging people for things they have an absolutely minor (Practically nil) chance of attending. Not charging fans for August when there are no games. The club have at numerous times tried to bleed supporters dry, the removal of concessions might have been forgotten by you but not myself.

What is the morally correct thing to do? You are very keen for our players to have morales, why not our owners?

All this will lead to is more people cancelling the membership and the club getting even more bad press.

    Had a reply.

It's ok for them to charge 4 months of memberships without games because had the season gone on like normal then members would have had to pay for 3 months without games...

We shouldn't cancel either because if you keep paying and we can't go back in October then we will be compensated.

    That's me sold. I'm back in :emoticon-0138-think

I really feel sorry for the staff having to deal with the backlash from this shower of ****.

Aren’t all clubs doing season passes then? seems Sunderland have 12000 sold? Upfront or DD?
I have no idea what other clubs are doing but I expect if none of them are taking season pass money then they will be going to the wall especially in league 1

I get the club doing it. It’s a quick way to ensure a windfall from all those leaving. it is completely driven by collecting walk away cash, from those who are walking away whatever.

It is the timing that stinks. You can’t compare other clubs as the season ticket model is very different.
As for those talking about contract law, I’ll give you a quick summary of the position: the contract doesn’t cover this eventuality so it would always be a fight if neither side backed down.

I couldn’t call a winner from my scrutiny of the wording, and I think the cash spent on legal advice would be a complete waste in the circumstances. So it is really a take it on the chin and pay.
even if you win the action you won’t save much individually, and I doubt the courts have the time or appetite to set precedent in an economic crisis.

    Walk away.

(the challenge on not paying last week was pretty cut and dry and I was sure I’d be able to make the club see sense as their contract wording was pretty irrefutable).

    Am I missing something?

In a normal season, you pay June and July without games. That’s two.

In this season, members paid March (games went ahead but none at home) and April. They will also pay August and September. That’s four (and potentially 5 - though they’re claiming they’d compensate October).

    It’s irrelevant now.
    Pay or leave.

The rest is hot air. It’s done.

Okay guess that’s their stance because the May game would have been away.

I’d recommend members walking away too like others on this page have said.

When the membership scheme was first mooted I said a couple of times that I'd never sign up to it; I always liked paying for my pass card in a oner, that way it was done and out of the way - reading the previous 113 posts of this thread gives me another reason never to get one.

Yeah my autistic brain wouldn't let it lie. I've just fired off a lengthy complaint and copied in the HDM, Independent Football Ombudsman, My MP and the 3 Hull MPs and the trust. Debating whether to send it to Ehab on Instagram too as he is active now...

I remember when the membership idea first broke after a game, hearing it on Humberside and instantly going "I don't like the sound of that." My mate and his dad thought it was a great move and said I was being paranoid.

Never ended up getting one as I started boycotting after that season. I think he had it for a season and then gave it up.

I've never asked him if he remembered that convo considering he despises the idea now. Probably not.

A bit of digging, and my response on here to the original membership announcement was this <laugh>

If twitter is anything to go by there appears to be a lot of people cancelling just now.

I'm sure the two months cancellation fees will tide the club over for... well a month or two. The natural thing to do upon relegation would have been to put out a statement, clarify the payments situation and offer some incentives to stay onboard.
Our man ****s off on holiday not even saying goodbye, short sighted he can't see the end of his nose.

In a normal season, 12 months membership pays for 23 home games, just like the old season ticket. As long as we can attend 23 games between now and next July, all is as normal. However, if the season starts in September, but fans aren't allowed back until October, there will presumably be some home games missing for which Ahab is charging? Not surprised.
