No mention of price change, so we’ll be paying the same amount for the pleasure of League 1 football?

    Few random late night musings:

    - is this essentially a price change? The monthly fee remains the same but we definitely won't be able to watch a full season of games so the per game cost is higher. That means notice should have been given.

    - in a contract both sides must be providing something. Members provided money, what are City providing? The vague possibility of maybe attending a game one day? Is the contract therefore void?

Has anyone actually kept a copy of the "contract" they were given when signing up that fully spells out the terms & conditions ?

Were you given any updates (documented) to those t & c's oever the years ?

In all honesty I don't think I was given any terms & conditions when I last purchased my "season pass", which was in vogue just a few years before the "membership" scheme was implemented (which I never took up).

This whole business seems somewhat suspicious in that the club seems to be relying on the inertia of the "customer" when it comes to cancellation and stopping their direct debit payments.

Apparently, about 10% of memberships (800) were cancelled when we went into lock-down, then we lost 8-0, got relegated (in a desperately feeble manner) and now we reinstate membership payments with no football and a days notice, all with no statement at all from the owners.

It's hard to believe there would be a worse way of handling things than the one we're currently seeing, but it's obviously a surprise to no-one.

I've decided to cancel my memberships, I'm not boycotting (I would if there was a concerted campaign to empty the ground, but realistically, that's not going to happen), so I still expect to be at the first game we're allowed in, but I felt I needed to make some sort of statement against the owners and it's made me feel a little better.

    It’s a disgrace.

And the sudden announcement is clearly connected to the cancellation issue.
I’m sure they could see their contract had a big hole that meant no money coming in.

    It’s a sad move.

This has been the last straw for me. Cancelled. 28 years of season/membership tickets and now nothing. So sad

I was only going to cancel til it felt safe to go back. Probably not now.

I've emailed them saying various thing including that it is essentially a price increase without due notice and that they are providing no consideration (benefit) for the contract and as such I won't be paying. Waiting for a reply. Not sure I can be arsed with the hassle of cancelling the DD and fighting though. I'll probably just give them my money for two months and not go back.

    I’m paying and walking.
No heart to fight it. I’d happily join a large revolt (we all refuse to pay).

Got a smug email today about my contract challenge and it just said “you will be paying the same as everyone else... everyone is now paying”!

This has ****ed up my brain.

I'm autistic. Hull City has been my thing/obsession for a long time.

I'm autistic, I cant just let things go.

I'm autistic, I can't see an unjust thing like this pass without fighting it with my autistic terrier brain. I got them told off by Trading Standards and the Football Ombudsman when they didn't provide benefits before, I just don't think I can this time. I'm just filled with an overwhelming sadness and don't have the energy for a fight. It was bad enough having to give it up temporarily for virus worries, to add this money grabbing insult to it...

My head is currently all over the place, as are my posts no doubt, sorry.

Good bye Hull City, it was fun sometimes.

Kept a copy? I guess someone may have rented warehouse space to store the mighty tome.

The word inertia covers that angle too. There's always a lot of catches & even holes in the fine print. Important to scrutinize & understand the wording (hate to say it, but a contract lawyer, which most people can't afford to use/chose not to use, should be used to find the hooks & holes before signing any contract). There will be millions of contracts out there that do not stipulate/define a pandemic impact in the agreement - pro or con for the consumer. That's potentially a way out.

Indeed, the usual "take legal advice" rider was included in the documentation sent out.

As for pandemic impact? That could be worth exploring, but as you say, whether an individual could afford , or be willing, to go down that route is another thing. A class action, funded by many may do it. Or could this be something for the supporters trust to look into. If this fall within their remit? And if not, it should.

The next stage of test events of crowds in grounds has been delayed to the 15th August at the earliest, I don't think there is any chance crowds will be back in October. It seems ridiculous that they are reinstating this now, but I guess we shouldn't be surprised they club is taking any chance it gets to bleed the supporters dry.

Has anyone got a view on the government's announcement to delay piloting crowds in venues for at least two weeks?

I assume this would move on the date football fans are allowed in grounds by two weeks. Therefore, us with memberships are likely to be paying for October with little likelihood of seeing a game that month.

I think this tips the balance for me and I will now cancel my membership.

Sacking managers if they go on the worst run in the league's history and telling their fans what they plan to do after relegation. Probably.

Comprehensive planning is underway at Sunderland AFC to ensure the club is fully prepared for the start of the 2020-21 season.

Whilst we hope to begin the campaign with supporters in attendance at the Stadium of Light, it is expected that social distancing measures and other safety protocols will be in place when fans return.

Of course, this will heavily impact upon the stadium’s overall capacity and could result in some supporters being unable to sit in their desired location.

The club is continuing to follow SGSA guidance and will work with the relevant governing bodies and supporters’ groups to ensure the matchday experience remains as authentic as possible, whilst also adhering to all of the safety measures set.

With season card sales already surpassing the 12,000-mark, which is in line with the reduced capacity estimated, we have today taken the decision to pause all new season card sales until further notice.

We appreciate that many fans will be disappointed by this news, but we will provide a further update regarding additional sales once further clarification around supporter attendance has been provided.

In the meantime, the club will continue to liaise with the SGSA and the relevant governing bodies, and we hope to boost that estimated figure by 2,000-3000 in the short term.

Finally, thank you for your continued patience and understanding throughout these unprecedented and unpredictable times.

We will endeavour to provide further detailed updates in the coming weeks, and we hope to see you all back at the Stadium of Light once it is safe to do so.

Anyone who hasn't cancelled their membership, will now definitely be paying for games they can't go to.

Memberships can be resumed as soon as we're able to go again, so there's absolutely no reason at all to continue paying.

The ****s can use the Bowen money to cover the club costs, rather than taking the piss with us for another day.

    Get it cancelled.
