Government getting panned for this for lack of notice.. but at the beginning when they lifted lockdown they said air corridors may be closed as well as open ones if there is a flare up. folk booking holidays (as I am considering doing) know the risk. a poll on LBC said 84% support the government’s decision. thoughts?
Support the Government’s decision. They were criticised in the past for being slow on decisions and probably rightly. Critics can’t have it both ways. Plus if you weren’t aware booking a holiday abroad anywhere was risky and full of potential problems then you deserve any problems you get.
yep. That’s where I’m at. I’m not going to book a thing as I can’t relax on holiday knowing I could be locked down again on my return. Or even detailed over there.
The whole 14day self-isolation system is a bit stupid. Test all visitors on arrival, self isolate until results received and then longer if positive. Charge incoming arrivals for test. Agree though that changes need to be announced and implemented immediately to be effective. My Mrs is refusing to travel here until they drop the 14day self isolation on return.
I'm currently on holiday in France. Couldn't care less if I have to self isolate for two weeks when I get back. That said the French appear to be taking the mask wearing more seriously in shops. Socially distancing though is lacking. Been here since Thursday. Went to the shops once. Not seen a soul since other than the farmers in their fields.
My two daughters booked Tenerife last week, much against my advice never mind the government's. Feck going abroad at the moment, far too many ifs and buts.
Going to Kefalonia next a Friday, and Portugal in September. I’ve retired now, if I have to quarantine for two weeks when I get back, it’s a doddle. Only dodgy place will be the airport, far safer to be abroad atm imo.
Why the devil that wasn't the case from the get go is beyond me. The virus hasn't swum here, we brought it here.
Some hope, although, there's supposed to be a couple of bands on next month. At least it's opened again, not all have over here. Half Moon up Wreka isn't reopening, and the Oak is still shut. BIrtley is a like a ghost town.
