Just a word about Bertie, I have been impressed with his attitude this season and certainly since November has been his best form since Ron left. I think it was clear that he was a bit put out at the start of this season but he is a key player for us when he is on it as both full backs are in Ralph's system. Just need to get KWP on the other side permanently and it will be a good balance.
Agreed, would like to see him given a new deal. He is 31 in a week but showing no signs of decline. A 2 years would be great but he'd probably only sign a 3 year deal - I think we should get it done asap.
Even when he's been out of form and seemingly out of sorts, Bertie's had that touch of quality the squad's been short of. And he still has that.
Mckennie sounds exciting, but I can see him going to a bigger team unless we can sell him the pathway idea.
Well I can't see a big club going for his until he has proven himself first. Still very raw, but has the right things we need.
I have just read that Schalke is cash strapped, so maybe they are pushing out a little bit to receive much needed funds.
Would be Chuffed with that, he's a great player, with loads of potential. Less of a goal threat than PEH was, but still a class act.
Yeah I noticed those. His shots looked more likege was hooking the ball to safety by his own box. Mind you, who was that ****wit for Villa who cleared off the opponents line the other day?
Would be typical of their awful recruitment of late. Who could look at their squad and think big money (£60m?) needs to be spent on a forward? Their defence is dreadful - so many clubs neglect their defence by spending big on forwards. Look what happened when one club (Liverpool) spent £75m & £65m on a CB & Keeper.
Never really felt he improved after his move to Liverpool. He was sensational in his last season for us in particular. Unfortunately for him he couldn't build on that or at least replicate those performances. Remains to be seen whether that form is in any way reachable for him. Very much doubt it is. Depending on wages it could be a reasonably useful signing for a club like Brighton, though I hope their physios are fully prepared!
