my employer paid for me to have a desk & chair & monitors, and we all have secure encrypted laptops.
NGL I have preferred working from home and having online meetings rather than travelling to the meetings, so for me it’s been good.

i know you have been working throughout and I tip my hat to you for the extra hours I know you have done, we all appreciate it.

    I miss lockdown<laugh>

In all honesty, my point was, how can you get motivated to work from home?

How does it work, do you clock in and out online etc?

I am motivated as I like my work.

i don’t have set hours or clock in/out, and I work for as long as I need - during lockdown I have started at 830 and try to finish by 4.

my laptop knows when I am online and it informs my colleagues, so they know they can contact me via Teams calling service. I have a work phone but I don’t ever switch it on so that I control when I am contactable.

  9. Stop misrepresenting me.

Covid is from the same strain as flus, and it spreads in exactly the same way.

The only reason covid 19 is perceived to be a problem is because it's new, and therefore more people are likely to catch it, as we have not yet built up a natural resistance to it.

I maintain that it isn't as dangerous as all of the fear mongering has made it out to be, and that has been bourne out by the numbers, even if we take them at face value.

Does it kill? Yes, I don't see how anyone can deny that, but so does ordinary flu (650,000, on average worldwide), and that is with strains that have been around for some while, and to which there is a fair amount of natural resistance.

So, there is nothing contradictory in what I say.

Can we contain it? No, we can't, no more than we can contain the flu, the common cold, or any other virus.

Is covid 19 any more deadly than normal flu? Perhaps for a short while, until we develop a natural resistance to it, after which it isn't going to be any more deadly than normal flu. And even then, I genuinely believe that the numbers of people alleged to have died from it have been massively exaggerated. I get that people disagree with me on that, and they are entitled to their view, but so am I.

But you are against trying to prevent, simple thing like a mask, whilst the boffins get to grip with this?

So if you/your loved ones fall victim to it and die you will be ok with that when you and or others wearing a mask could have saved you from catching it?

No different from the flu so your chances are just as good and no blame on the government or NHS.

The WHO estimates for worldwide flu deaths are between 290,000 and 650,000, dependent on the strain and the year. So 650,000 a year on average don’t die from flu. Fake news.

Whereas over 650,000 World wide have already died from COVID 19 and this is despite the lockdowns, social distancing, masks and the numerous other safety measures employed. You’re back to your ‘it’s just the flu’ embarrassing stance from March ffs.

Of course we could have done a far better job of contained it, see New Zealand and the UAE for just 2 examples of how it’s done. So more fake news.

It’s demonstrably proven to be more deadly than flu, and a wider immunity in the populous would have no affect on the mortality rate per infection. So yet more fake news.

There is no evidence yet, that the antibodies that provide immunity to COVID 19 last for more than a few months. There’s already been cases of reinfection. You ever had a cold? You immune from colds now? Oh......

You’ve been trying to suggest that death number from COVID have been exaggerated, but have continually ignored the excess deaths stats, which are irrefutable. So your misguided opinion doesn’t have equivalence with fact on the issue of the death count. Facts and opinion aren’t equivalent. So more fake news.

You do realise that the mandatory self-isolation applies if you have visited a non-exempt country during your travel, with the period required reduced by the number of days since you were in that country. Doesn't matter which country you arrive from.

The online form you have to fill in, print and then present on arrival apparently asks for dates and countries visited.

Flabby folk tend to be more at risk from this virus so my gut instinct tells me HIAG should be taking this more seriously, before he ends up in a wheezing mess on his waterfront chalet veranda.

Your numbers are a bit off. The amount of deaths from flu range from 200k to 650k.

But a much better comparison between flu and Covid, IF both are left with little or no containment, is in America. I think we can agree the approach to containing it there is pretty much non-existent on a large scale (ignoring any limited attempts to lockdown). A couple of years ago the CDC estimated the number of deaths related to flu was between 16k to 50k from 2010 to 2016. The numbers for Covid in U.S. is already 150k mate. So you're talking anywhere between 3x to 10x the numbers and that's just 6 months worth.

I don't get how you can see the threat as exaggerated. I have no problem with you having your opinion btw.
