There's an opinion inbetween being happy with Ashley and not just wanting any old person to buy the club. I can respect an opinion which is you'd rather the club remain premier league instead of collapse into league 1. Btw, Sunderland might not survive, they're on the brink of administration.
I would suggest anyone willing to pay £300m for the club, isn't just any old person. Besides it would a great deal of time, to know if whoever it was, will be any better or not. History will be the judge, as history is now judging Ashley on his record. Sunderland will survive, and in time will move back up the league's as other clubs have done.
These two are not accurate and bases purely on your personal opinion. People recognised how bad Ashley was in a few seasons, wasn't it just two? He has been hated since. We would know very quickly, by one transfer window even, if the new owner was worse. And we have no idea if Sunderland will return, they're based in a poor city in a poor part of the country and even when successful have a half empty stadium. They are a financial hole right now. They could easily be down there 15 years
If your happy enough with Ashley, stick with him it's your choice. I'm sure Google will give you all the answers you want to see.
Why do you keep suggesting I'm happy with Ashley? I stopped going years ago because of him. I'm simply saying the I'll take anyone over Ashley is a ridiculous position.. they have to be able to take the club forward and have the right vision.
Presumably, you mean being able to take the club forward and have the right vision to be at least equitable to that of Ashley. If anyone is willing to cough up £300m, which is a lot of money, and unless they were complete idiots, I'd suggest that there vision would be beyond that of Ashley and highly unlikely, although it is possible, they would be any worse. That's a gamble worth taking in my book. The alternative is stick with what we've got, and hope that the sugar daddy from SA comes up trumps.
well we will have to agree to disagree mate. I've seen a few takeovers go wrong over the years the Saudis would be a game changer and everyone knows it fingers crossed
They grow sugar in Saudi?? I didn’t know that. Do agree. Not about the sugar though. I honestly don’t think that sugar is grown in Saudi. If Ashley remains there is no ambition other than to survive. Even failing is better if we have tried to succeed in the first place.
You may be surprised, Date Palms have a high sugar content, and cultivated in the Arabian Peninsular. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Date_palm You're right though, better to try and fail, otherwise the club will slowly die the death of a thousand cuts.
it's very short sighted... you'd think differently if the club got relegated twice and went into administration.
Yeah, I cant imagine the guys on here who go into a blistering rage when we draw against West Ham being able to handle a 1-0 home loss to Stevenage in League 1 cos we have a "nicer" owner
