Article on Guardian yesterday saying the same but that Saints are treating them at two separate deals. One is not dependent on the other. If KWP was a difficult one I hope we’re looking at Matty Cash of Forest. He’s great fun. A winger-turned-fullback and they’ve just missed out on the playoffs so I’m sure he’s going cheap.
If Brentford don't go up I can see a few teams looking at Benrahma.. I actually think he would fit our system quite well and would be worth a look at if Boufal does leave this summer
So id imagine Boufal will go if he only has one further year, id be amazed if he signed for another term, on his part and ours. He just never got those 6 games in a row to cement himself
Going to be amazing when he signs for Everton and comes out with "it has long been my ambition to play for this prestigious football club" Clearly he wants Spurs as they are a bigger & better club, but he likely knows Spurs won't wait a year for him so he will still sign for Everton to get the big pay day if that is his only option.
Still don’t get the excitement of spurs fans on the “maybe” arrival if PEH....he is no improvement on what they already have.
To be fair, Danso never got a chance in his proper position. The game he played at CB he actially looked pretty good. I trust Ralph's decision, but there is every chance Danso turns out to be quite good.
I think he will do well there. He’s made mistakes and not performed that well for us this season, but he’s still young and has big potential. Pep rates him and he’s wanted by both Mourinho and Ancelotti.
Any new signing you try and get excited about tbf - look at us lot when we sign someone we have never heard of from an average team in Europe!
Perhaps he realised that he might actually have to accept the Everton move, and might get a bit of a verbal kicking from their fans, the moment he makes a mistake.
I can see why they might want to keep the deals separate as you rarely see player plus cash deals now but I really hope that there is an insistence that we get KWP if we let Hojbjerg join them. Really don’t want to miss out on KWP!
So, the next 2 summers (2020/2021) are going to be interesting, looking at the contract situation (included those with 1st team appearances or have spent time out on loan). Clearly, decisions need to be made on some of these players if we want some decent money, or contracts extended before we lose them for less than what they're worth. By my reckoning, we only have 8 first team players who have contracts longer than 2-years right now, which is pretty unusual I'd say! 2021 Kayne Ramsay Alfie Jones Christoph Klarer Jake Vokins Ryan Bertrand Sam McQueen Tom O'Connor Oriol Romeu Harrison Reed Pierre Højbjerg Tyreke Johnson Jake Hesketh Josh Sims Sofiane Boufal Guido Carrillo 2022 Alex McCarthy Fraser Forster Jannik Vestergaard Wesley Hoedt Jack Stephens Jan Bednarek Callum Slattery Stuart Armstrong Alex Jankewitz James Ward-Prowse Mario Lemina Will Ferry Danny Ings Shane Long Michael Obafemi Dan N'Lundulu
I have been surprised that Boufal's name has not been mentioned amongst those likely to be off-loaded. He has reminded me a bit of Gaston Ramirez in that there have been flashes of brilliance but not really enough to make him a regular. He strikes me as being extremely skillful yet someone who he difficult to integrate in to the kind of team Ralph wants to put out. He will be off-loaded, for sure.
I agree Ian - if he has a year left i can see him being offloaded for under £10m, more likely £5-6m, same with many in the same boat - it may be we decide to cut losses on most - after all they may decide to let some go for next to nothing for the salary saving. Out of the list that SF4L produced i can see these moving on this summer: Kayne Ramsay - not sure Alfie Jones - stay Christoph Klarer - stay Jake Vokins - new deal Ryan Bertrand - new deal Sam McQueen - gone Tom O'Connor - didn’t know Des had a son called Tom, not sure! Oriol Romeu - new deal Harrison Reed - gone Pierre Højbjerg - new deal Tyreke Johnson - gone Jake Hesketh - gone Josh Sims - gone Sofiane Boufal - gone Guido Carrillo - new deal
