Only ever going to be one winner this year. Has anyone calculated where we would be in the table without a Danny’s goals?
I had to know the answer, so I calculated how our results would differ if all of Ings' goals just went ****. These are the results it would change, and yes the date format is MM/DD that's how we roll over here. 10/19 D -> L 11/23 D -> L 11/30 W -> D 12/4 W -> D 12/21 W -> D 12/28 D -> L 1/1 W -> D 1/11 W -> D 6/28 W -> D 7/9 D -> L 7/16 D -> L 17 points, so we'd be on 32 and needing some good fortune to survive on the final day. I'm actually surprised it's not more
You cant quite use that as a direct comparison, as we wouldnt have played with 10 men. Some of his goals would be replaced with goals from someone else, even a Shane Long couple. So likely we may have turned a draw or two into a win, and a loss or two into a draw. Still would be pretty poor though. Besides, we will find out next season when he is sold in the summer
It's also not a fair comparison because why should only we lose our leading scorer? I get that Ings has the highest percentage of his teams goals out of anyone in the league. But I think to be fair you'd have to remove the goals from each clubs top scorer.
Yeesh I think you are all taking this exercise a bit too seriously. Chilco asked where we'd be without Ings' goals, so I investigated a scenario where Danny Ings was replaced by his much less talented cousin, Donny Engs. They look similar enough that a whole season passes before we catch on you see.
Were's my summer? Sunny intervals and occasional showers over the next couple of weeks. Not sales weather.
Yes Danny should walk the POTS award but we are not like the Le Tiss side of the 90's, ie a one man team now and the other goals have been pretty evenly distributed. What I mean is we don't play like a one man team.
I don't really care, although it does sound from what I wrote like I'm taking it very seriously ! It would be interesting to see what difference it would make to the league table though, but I'm also not interested enough to work it out myself haha so was hoping if I mentioned it someone else would
Losing a top scorer may hit Leicester and Arsenal etc more a we dont have to rely on Danny's penalties
https://inews.co.uk/sport/football/...rendan-rodgers-celtic-ralph-hasenhuttl-562073 Easy to underestimate exactly how influential Armstrong has been this season. Also another example of Ralphs ability to develop players rather than just get rid of them at will. Interesting implications for the likes of Hoedt, Bouff, etc.... their lack of adaptability and possibly unwilling to change.
It’s Chilco’s fault. He’s supposed to be a Moderator not an Agitator. And as for you, backing it up with statistics! I mean I think we all kept pretty calm, considering
