I’m really surprised he hasn’t had the opportunities here. From his debut under poch I thought he had the battling mentality and ability with the ball but wasn’t given the chances to establish himself. Lots of competition in the midfield. I think he’d be a solid option off the bench because we need the depth. There will be a need for players like him in the squad. He could be another Stephens.
I know it’s popular to hate on PEH and say he’s a bit **** atm. Yes he has been a bit pants this season, for some reason he seems to have had his head turned. But the last few seasons he was one of our best players and his drive, commitment and the way he lead by example is a big part of why we stayed up in those seasons. I don’t think he’s irreplaceable or anything, but I’m not going to ignore his contributions to our cause over the past few seasons either. If he goes to Everton though, it’s basically just to get paid more (also possibly to be managed by Ancelotti, although who knows how long he’ll be there).
one of our best players and his drive, commitment and the way he lead by example is a big part of why we stayed up in those seasons ------------------------ And now he's unrecognisable. An out of control ego & a desperation to leave has made him not just ineffective but unreliable. So, thanks for the mems, and don't let the door hit you on your way out........
Thought crossed my mind earlier that we've lost two songs this year in Cedric and Pierre. Need some new ones, sharpish.
Watching Cedric start for Arsenal tonight made me realise they haven't got a big rebuild on their hands. They just need to adjust their aspirations.
Oh well... another promising talent decides to cap their career with a move to Everton. Players define their own level, and that is a low peak imo. Players should be moving DOWN to Everton, not supposedly (by common hierarchy/perception) UP. That road goes nowhere.
Club's can always pull out. Look at Willian - was locked on for a move to Liverpool, got poached by Spurs a day before deadline, then got nicked by Chelsea on deadline itself.
Reported in BBC transfers to have stated a preference for Spurs. That would suit us best with our interest in KWP. Just have to deal with Levy.
I still think he’ll end up at Spurs. Liverpool Echo reporting that Tottenham are his preference and Everton haven’t made a bid.
if there’s a photo, I’ll be able to do my detective work and check it out. Like a did with Poch at Spuds.
I'm not sure he has had his head turned. He views every contract as a stepping stone and is now looking for the next rung on the ladder to the very top. He's never tried to suggest otherwise. He would not be drawn on signing a contract extension at any of the fans forums over the last couple of seasons for that reason. So I've never seen him as 'bleeding red n white'. Very happy with his contribution here. Very happy for him to move on and leave us with a decent profit on the sale. That said, I think his choice of club is the first real mistake he has made. We will finish above Everton next year - probably Spurs too. In my view, a European club would be better choice for him.
Spurs will be a European club? I also think that it's too soon to say we'll finish above Everton next season as well. They've got one of the world's best managers and unlike ours he will get money to spend from the owners.
