If Cardiff put the final nail in our coffin and finish 5 th they might avoid Brentford in the play offs who on paper are the side to beat if your serious about going up.
For me at this point, being bottom of the league and going out in such an embarrassing way is exactly what Ehab and the manager deserve. Hopefully they get shat on by the media for a while. Whether they care or not is another thing..
I listened to the last 15 minutes and Barnsley were making chance after chance and winning corners, chucking themselves in front of Forest efforts - kitchen sink stuff. 6 shots on target, 9 corners and 63% possession against a playoff contender. They were 2 minutes from being relegated. Our stats yesterday against a relegation rival 2 shots on target, 3 corners and 37% possession.
Ehab looks at the wages they pay in the National League. He hasn't got round to thinking of the income yet.
What a pathetic and sad indictment of our freefall since January.Too much going on in all our lives to call it heartbreaking but **** me it's close.
We're exactly where we deserve to be. Quite how you spaff 20 years of hard work from a promising position in half a season then ask Ehab and his goon. It must be unprecedented. Top 10 to bottom in 17 games must be unprecedented. And no, just cos we've all lost family, security and liberty in the last months doesn't make it any less heartbreaking. Especially since its just ego, incompetence and intransigence that led to this. And the writing has been on the wall for months. There's bad runs, which most of us have seen and can forgive, especially supporting city. This is something else, and I'm not sure this kind of sustained collapse has been seen anywhere in professional sport. Ever.
The one good thing for me is that I have not had to be in the stadium watching the games. That would be even more depressing then it is already. When we are relegated it might be that we will have something to cheer about, some goals and back to winning ways but I just can't see it. Who the hell is going to score the goals? It seems there is no fight left anywhere in the club and no ambition to take us back to the top again. Ehab has already said there will be no more investment so we are stuffed unless we get new owners and there doesn't seem to be much hope of that either. Will I hang on to my membership - probably yes, I actually like going to games but it just depends just how much worse it gets really.
I mentioned this way back in February : 'Our season so far reminds me of when Blackpool got relegated with us in 78. To the turn of the year they looked good for promotion (us the play offs) and then the respective seasons fell apart and the teams plummeted like a stone (manager sacked by them injuries for us) out of the division'. Birmingham this season may have gone a little unnoticed by some, but they have slid alarmingly. The difference with us is that it feels like its deliberate.
Derby County, PL 2007-08. Took 'em less than 8 weeks to move from 7th to permanently resting in 20th place with the odd bounce back to as high as 19th. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2007–08_Derby_County_F.C._season#:~:text=Poor results continued: a 6,season with only one win.
They never really had any form to begin with having only won once all season. It may not be completely unprecedented, but it can only have happened a handful of times ever.
