Yeah totally get the circumstances but it feels like we’ve taken the first offer. I seriously doubt there wouldn’t have been half a dozen Prem clubs well interested at £6m-£10m considering what they’re happy enough to waste money on.

It’s a fantastic move for him. Good to gamble on a foreign league and put himself in the shop window for a seriously big side in a few years rather than taking the dosh now to play for a Palace or Burnley.

Who knows what the market is now after Covid? It's not really been tested yet and wont be until well into the window. I just think 4/5 mill for BOS isnt worth selling him for on the basis of the market that was last summer and winter, and doubt that market has changed too much for our rich relatives in the PL now.

Back to the opening question, what is happening to our club? In my opinion we are settling for a low championship status for the foreseeable future, hoping we avoid relegation season after season. We have been run very poorly from the top and are now seeing the damage it has done. We lack any form of ambition and I think the players know that. 4.7m for Bos is an absolute piss take. The start of this season was very promising, with a strong squad. The club obviously didnt want or expect the season to continue and performances have only highlighted that. We are now asset stripping and will have yet another season of rebuilding followed by another and another and so on. The club talk about stability, let's start with the ****ing team and players in the squad ffs.

Interesting reading the different opinions on here having heard earlier this evening that BOS was going for £4.5m. Like some others, I am disappointed with the price but it just reflects the situation we are in as a club. Bigger clubs know we are in a mess financially and so they can take advantage by offering the minimum possible price for our best players, knowing that we aren't in a position to refuse. I'm afraid I can see the same happening with Eze, and wouldn't be shocked if he goes for under £10 million.

I am pleased that he is going abroad, and hasn't opted for a lower Premier League club. Both Freeman (11 games and 0 goals since joining Sheffield United a year ago) and Austin (100 games and 26 goals since leaving us four and half years ago) have struggled with the step up a league, and I can't help but think they may have regretted not staying with us for at least a bit longer. At least BOS is going to a completely different set up, to a league that is not as high a standard as the Premier League, but will put him in the shop window for bigger clubs if he does well. I can't hold anything against him for wanting to go and see where his career takes him, and I wish him all the best. Now here's hoping Chair or Shodipo can benefit from the spot left behind by BOS, and they can begin to grow into his shoes.

Worth noting that we tried to offer BOS a new contract on improved terms but he wasn’t interested in signing it. So you’re left in a position whereby either you sell him now or wait until he goes for a compensated fee when his contract ends which would be far less than £4.5m.

Good move for him, £4m profit for us. This is the reality of how our club will operate now. We need to get used to it.

Hard to be optimistic really. The problem with settling for survival every season is low expectations inevitably end up with eventual relegation. Freeman was a giveaway last summer and has hardly had a start with the Blades. Once again we're seeing our best prospects going at less than they should be for whatever reason and any progress the team makes is halted before we can make a sustained challenge. It's the 4th season running we've basically got nowhere, better football for a while but losing players in the window and the lockdown stuffed us. Kakay and Masterson look decent but there doesn't seem to be any other bright prospects if Eze, Chair and Manning go. We'll just be hoping there are 3 worse teams than us again...

I agree though I struggle to see Chair or especially Manning as bright prospects.

Lots of interesting points on BOS sale. Mostly from the club perspective.

We also have to take into account the player perspective. He clearly has refused any new contract, which means he sees new horizons for his future. That is his prerogative - after all, we didn’t offer him a longer contract at the outset, or renew his contract earlier. No matter what we want, or think he is worth (and as said previously he is only worth what others are prepared to pay) the club has to look at what is on-the-table.

He was always going to go. What will happen to the money? We don’t have the inside knowledge or wider picture of the boards thinking. But if we want to invest in young talent, improve and sell-on then we will have to buy that young talent to replace those that move on - so new blood has to come in.

Maybe the news will raise the interest and the bids. Maybe BOS has already told the club he wants a life in Brugge, I’m sure his agent already has a very good idea of the offer on the table.

It’s not a terrible deal. It’s not a great deal. But it’s a deal for a player that wants to move on. I wish him every success, he has worked hard; he has developed; he has given us some return on our investment.

I just hope we can keep our focus and find the next new blood; we made a few good choices in the past. If you find a good recipe you keep using it. So let’s chase those names we have on our list and get them in early with a portion of the money we have. But I don’t expect us to have any portion of Eze’s sale. So let’s get in early for our targets and use this as an opportunity to show we can develop talent and that they too have the opportunity to get on. Oh ... and can we play good football, move UP the league and get closer to keeping some of that talent for a promotion push.

I think Chair has been unfortunate to be in and out of the team particularly in the 2nd half of the season. He and Eze perhaps don't quite compliment each other playing together but he definitely has the talent. Manning was a revelation early on at left back but as soon as he was tipped for an international call up he lost form. Too many of our players blow hot and cold, hence our seesaw season...

Manning looks better to me further forward, he played better recently as wing back, but his defending is all over the place and while he can put in decent crosses, sometimes he can't manage that either, and he has little pace or hight.

Agree with you on that one, seemed to have a knack for a late arrival into the box as well and wasn’t bad at getting his head on a few crosses either in the past. Left of a midfield 3 always struck me as his best position.

Oh for the heady heights of the start of the year when we tore a new ass into the welsh teams both now vying for the playoffs.

BOS has come on leaps and bounds under MW. Maybe there will be someone in the under 23's that has seen the difference MW has done to this young man's career and sees his departure as a chance to cement a place in the first team.
