Many, even every business has to, at some time, doff cap and tug forelock in the bank managers office. We need £xxxxx pounds to tide us over. The bank manager, namely papa, locked the doors, never mind agreed to see him. Metaphorically. You are a bit hands tied when you cannot access borrowings. As SydneyTiger mentioned, the Southampton and Brentford models seem to work, and Ehab has tried the same here. Again SydneyTiger points out they got lucky with a manager and scouting system that has unearthed the players that have since been sold to fund the day to day running. That luck has gone, along with the players. Though I will credit Ehab with one blinding bit of brilliance. He has outdone his old man. Papa managed to piss off the council, the FA, the fans, (please add those I have missed, you can type a further three paragraphs) but pissing off the players to the extent they get off the team bus, stroll around and get back on the bus an 8-0 thrashing later is certainly something.

The relegation 50% pay cuts will eek out the monies to be received, have been received. Then we are ****ed, both on and off the pitch.

I wonder if the Brentford owner would get away with it if he’d started years later than he did.
Very lucky to have a local owner who wants the best for the club and is prepared to throw hundreds of millions at it.
It is amazing no other local philanthropists haven’t had a go. Do they know the dna of the local populace? And too wise to do it

Southampton sell all of their best players.

Brentford have an owner who is a fan with deep pockets.

Hull City follow the Southampton model and just like them the wheels sometimes fall off or come very close to it and they have massive financial backing.
Brentford’s gamble may not pay off, some of their fans do not want promotion or a stadium move, simply because they think they will just be another London football tourist club.

I always felt the Healey's might have at some point bought the club, but it has never happened and is unlikely ever too.

I suspect you can count the number of Brentford fans who don’t want promotion, on the fingers of one finger.

In life we are all judged. What we say Vs what we do, that is a fact. No one has forced AA to say what he has said or forced him to do what he has done. It is only his fault that the two don't add up, that is also a fact. That is why he is criticised so much. He is a liar, I don't like them.

With the move to their new stadium plus development of Griffin Park into a residential site, the owner will have recovered 100% of his investment by 2022. All whilst building a solid team and investing in the community

I’d be happy to have a Benham here no doubt
Just a quick skeg and in 2015 the bees debt doubled from 19 to 43 million but its interest free and owed to the owner with a freehold on the ground!! yes we’d all love that wouldn’t we

That’s true and then over the years we learnt that it wasn’t the be all and end all. Brentford haven’t been in the premier league and I’d bet that ever single one of them is hoping to enjoy the journey and I don’t blame them. You never know, they may still be there in 10 years time playing in Europe even. Let them dream like we did all those years ago.

The Sunderland owner has just been on the local news, he wants £37.6m to sell the club. And you get a 50.000 seater stadium for that.

Puts Ehab’s £40m into sharp focus.

A mate of mine was on Brentford's books in the early 60's. He doesn't even remember Wally Bragg :emoticon-0100-smile

it’s true, they’re on track for all Benham’s loans to be repaid in full with the new ground also paid for by 2022, even if they don’t get promoted.

Obviously not many clubs have the benefit of a large lump of prime development land in West London to fund a lot of it, but their player trading has been streets ahead of any other Championship club.
