That’s what I was thinking. Only team in lower half that I would like relegated. Don’t dislike anyone else really, though Everton would be fun.
There is a rivalry developing. But it's a very different kind of rivalry to our rivalry with Pompey. They were desperate for a rivarly, we were condescending to them and their manufactured hatred towards us, which made them hate us more, and now more and more Saints fans are disliking them purely because of their fans. And even ignoring their fans, of course we want to maintain our position as the best South Coast side so want to beat them and finish above them for that reason if no other. I've taken to checking in on their fans forum recently to see what their current view is on their situation and I've never seen such sour grapes, it would be funny if it wasn't so pathetic. But ultimately, I'd still far rather West Ham were relgated than them, and that that opinion irks Bournemouth fans I find funny. Heres a few from last night
This will sound patronising, but going down will probably, in the long term, be good for Bournemouth. Once their rich owner gets the urge to move on, there is no way that they could survive on crowds of just over 11000, so relegation and living within their means could save the club from administration. Eddie Howe has done a great job there, although I’m not sure that his more expensive buys have been much of a success. I can’t stand watching him in an interview, though, because he always looks as though he is about to burst into tears. Maybe he will, when we beat them on Sunday.
I just find Eddie so boring in interviews. He was really nice though last year when I saw him in the vets and he asked if his daughter could stroke my dog. It was funny as I thought he looked familiar, but couldn’t place him and Mrs No7 said afterwards “I thought you were going to kick off about Southampton, like you did when you met Harry Redknapp”
I see Peter Kirkup with us again. Someone sent him that photo of me in my Lycra... I think he likes it
It’s a shame that we can’t have a rivalry with a local club without the toxicity from some of the fans, particularly the “up and coming” club. Growing up, I couldn’t understand the aggression from Pompey fans as we never played them other than rare cup fixtures. I was bemused at some Bournemouth fans giving it large when there was I think genuine goodwill from many Saints fans when they came up. I would prefer that they stayed up, but then I would also prefer that we were both involved in a nip and tuck battle for top 6.
I always felt Oscar realised it was going to be a huge collision and tried to duck under the other player as he tried to head it - it looked far worse though, but don't think he tried to hurt the guy.
David Brooks did last season in the 3-3 draw until we scored then he made a miraculous recovery then hurled abuse at the linesman. If I remember correctly it wasn't just him that were up to these antics. When they were winning or drawing they were diving. When they were losing they didn't.
Thought Vesty was going to have his Cuco Martina moment last night. Shame the brighton keeper hadn't read the script.
Who was the annoying/troll Bournemouth fan that used to come on here and mention saints then go (silly name) all the time.
I remember a Swindon fan on the old Beeb forum, he was particularly bitter towards us. I put it down to him living here and getting rejected by the Sotonian ladies!
It's funny..first couple of years most on here chuckled as their fans mad a rivalry out of it and most people said on here they had no interest and wanted them to either do well or thought of them as irrelevant. Is it a sign of how we have fallen (we're on the way back) last few years makes it more relivent now?
