Another sad day in the history of Leeds United please log in to view this image I first saw Jack play in 1964, he was the backbone of Revie's team Always remember with a smile on my face Big Jack going one of his inelegant dribbles that seem to take him pass the opposition defenders A LUFC legend & a World Cup Winner to boot! You'll always be remembered in my mind Tears rolling down my face when watching the news reports on Jack's death this morning RIP Jack
Thanks for this, Shako. Brought a tear to my eye to hear Billy talk about Jack. Who'd have thought our centenary year would bring such extremes of sadness & joy.
The scary thing is he retired in 96 I had to look it up as I’d have sworn it wasn’t much more than 10 - 15 years ago absolute max. I can’t believe it was 24 years ago that he retired
My favourite memory is a bit hazy as I was a youngster at the time (yep, I was one, once). But I recall a game in the Fairs Cup at ER (Valencia I think) where one of their forwards tried to rough up jack in our penalty area at a corner. spoiler: this was A MISTAKE OF MONUMENTAL PROPORTIONS It’s not that he retaliated .... he did, but that would be far to mild a description - he chased the little ****er all the way to the half way line. Brilliant.
Those were the days. As you will see, my memory was only partly accurate http://www.mightyleeds.co.uk/matches/19660202.htm
First of all there's the Boss who's right behind us He's the one who fills our hearts with pride It's a joy to us all when Big Jack has the ball To know that he is on our side
Another wee Jack article. Pity, I liked the cheque story. https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/53373383
Hard to believe that Big Jack has gone. Death managed to fell him it seems, which is more than any fecker ever achieved on the pitch. He was Leeds through and through. And though hard, he always came over as a decent and honourable bloke with a wry sense of humour. What a year it's been for saying farewell to legendary figures. Auto promotion would be a fitting tribute to them. Fingers crossed for tomorrow. Hope that Big Jack is able to watch the game. RIP Jack, and thanks for some priceless memories.
Just got to say it, whilst I don’t like the BBC in all honesty they have done our Big Jack proud in their reporting of his passing both on the website and on tv. I just hope that he is remembered before tomorrow’s game which should take presidency over that knee bending thing
