if you are self employed and have been honest about your profits the government offered a decent payout.

also a lot of people who have been furloughed would rather be working and have the security of a full wage. Probably most

I have, it's suited me... I earned some extra cash,, but i worked hard for it.

Hiag just thinks he's special, well he is special, but not in the way he thinks he is.

Seen so many people coming in and out our place over the last 4 months, all just trying to make some money to keep afloat;.

I wouldn't feel remotely guilty about that. Grateful, yes, guilty no.

I've worked from home throughout the lockdown but it has been pretty tough - 85% of staff worldwide have been furloughed and redundancies will follow, almost certainly.

Biggest issue is cash flow. Even if you have orders to service there could just be a lack of cash to get companies over the hump. Govt needs to look at this to ease unemployment.

I’d also like to see more tax breaks for bigger corporations based on how many new staff they recruit between now and year end.

Cash is always king. The issue for many businesses has been that even when shut or partially reopened, a large proportion of their cost base remains the same. Thus eating cash. The solution was to offer loans via the banks, but they wanted directors guarantees and many had to decide whether to run the risk of accruing more debt or just close the doors for good.

Once furlough draws to a close there’s going to a Tsunami of redundancies.

Me too, I made bread, sausages, pies, curry’s, scotch eggs, lasagne and an array of English food for take-always throughout the pandemic. Actually business improved during the period so I won’t claim for furlough payment. ;)

Yup. Even the short term cash injection will have been eaten up with overheads. If the trade isn’t there, then truck loads of businesses will simply go to the wall and shed all the jobs that go with them.
