I might have been a bit unfair up there.

The guys in charge are of course caught in a mess which it's taken a few decades to produce. The choice they have is letting a club go bust tomorrow or letting a deal go through that may keep them going until next week.

    An invidious position.

Far Eastern business person buys football club with obvious promise of the cash. Cash doesn't come and club goes into Admin. Hmmmm!! Where have I read that sort of story before I wonder? You all know where but I didn't see any outpouring of support from anywhere when that club almost went out of existence and out of the football league.

A lot of the grievance among fans is that the authorities approved the new owners and then only 4 weeks later, deducted 12 points when it all went wrong.

A club statement today...talking of restructuring because of the result that Covid-19 is having on club finances....plus the possibility of redundancies as well.

Most clubs below the Premiership will be going through similar procedures at the moment......hard times without money coming through the turn-styles.....some jobs will obviously go....a shame really....but the club will need to cut it's costs.

Along with a load of other businesses. It was always going to happen once the furlough system was coming to an end. I feel for anyone who loses their job right now. It would be not so bad if there were prospects of other jobs being around to fill the void. There won't be. Our High Street is beginning to look a bit sad already and there is more pain to come. No mention yet about how we pay for the £300 billion this is costing. Hang on to your hats folks the bill is on it's way.

Sad news but hardly surprising. As we've become accustomed to, it looks like the club is doing this the right way: a consultation process has begun with staff and then the fans have been told.

It looks as if Callum McFadzean possibly will not be re-signing for us.......the talk is that he might be going to Doncaster.....reasonably local compared with the West Country.

Not sure somebody taking this much time to say yes or no is a good thing or if I want him to sign now. He is a good player but if his head and heart aren't here then not for me I'm afraid. Pity.

We've seen Antoni Sarcevic turn down a new contract for family reasons and nobody would accuse him of not having his heart in it even if his head was at least once deployed in nutting opposition players,

It is a shame and what it does say is that Ryan Lowe can't rely solely on personal contacts up north, at least in respect of senior players with families. The club says though that it's using analytics to identify possible recruits so hopefully loss of the old-boy network won't hit us too hard.

More proof that Plymouth is at the end of the world and just one stop before America.

A list of away fans following their team this season in Division Two has just come out.

Bottom of the list for away fans to visit was.....Argyle with only on average 259 away fans each match......Next was Scunthorpe with 283 visitors and then Exeter with 336......we must remember that Argyles figures do not include their biggest away following would have been the Exeter game...which was not played because of Covid-19 shutting grounds down just before it would have taken place......Interesting that although Scunthorpe are reasonably central in the country they were second to bottom in the list.

Not too surprisingly new club Salford had opponents bringing their biggest away following ...a total on average of 868 fans per match......second was Crewe with 668 and third was Bradford on 603 on average.

So it's not only players that cry that Argyle is a journey too far....Sarcevic and possibly McFadzean as well soon this season....plus all the players we never hear of who have refused to come in the first place because of the terrible distance from their home.

Good job they don't play in Russia, USA, Canada, Australia and Brazil....then they would have something to cry about....I don't remember our three Hungarians complaining as much as home grown players.

Professional football is a short career in the life of a player....why ever accept a contract 200/300 miles from where your family has settled in the first place if being away from home is such a problem.....I don't remember having any options other than going to Aden for the best part of two years when doing my National Service....crying that I want to be nearer home was not allowed....and there was no chance as a National Serviceman of having two weeks holiday at home during that time either....there are many careers that take you away from home for long periods and pro football is one of them....and they do have the opportunity of visiting home regularly...plus the off season spell.....they just need to get a grip....they can always bring their families with them......Devon isn't quite the same bleakness as Siberia.

It is not the same thing as the Services Plym. You are obviously right in that Service people have to go where they are sent although I wonder at that these days. But, a footballer can choose where to work as can any other employee. If they choose not to be away from home then that's their choice. You stated in your career it was "the best part of two years". A football career is around 15 years so that's a lot longer.

Average amount of away fans traveling....Div 2 season 2019/20.

    1.....Plymouth.......1038.
    2.....Bradford........1009.
    3.....Swindon..........869.
    4.....Grimsby...........767.
    5.....Port Vale.........710.

    11.....Exeter...........457.

    22....Stevenage.....198.
    23....Morecambe...162.
    24....Crawley.........150.

Now if you multiplied that figure with miles traveled....Argyle would be over the horizon and out of sight.

I think travelling away has become "the thing" for Argyle supporters. It's a sort of pride thing. Quite impressive though. League two will miss us.

September 12th is being talked about as a date to start the 2020/21 season.....but no nearer knowing if spectators will be allowed so early as that....which makes it tough for Div1/2 clubs having no income to prepare for a pre-season campaign....plus all the Covid-19 testing costs required as well.

So Wycombe Wanderers beat Oxford 2-1 at Wembley tonight....and got promoted....so we're free of them this coming season in Div 1.......thank goodness for that.

I think it's great they have gone up. Barry Fry will have imploded with rage which is no bad thing on it's own. I know that Argyle fans get a bit annoyed (mildly put) with Wycombe but they play to their strengths which is what all teams do if we are honest. On their budget this promotion, and especially for the first time. is a fantastic feat. The thing is will they keep their Manager now given his achievement with them on the resources he has. Like him or not he has proved to be very astute.

Weren't Wycombe only 8th when the season suddenly finished.....even Peterborough and Sunderland were above them....but with two games in hand multiplied by average pts by game sneaked them up five places to third.....their actual last played league game was a 3-1 defeat by Doncaster.

The English transfer window will be open from 27 July to 5 October.

It will be very hard for clubs to decide how much to spend until it's known when the fans can start buying tickets again.....

I'd be willing to put down a deposit on future purchases but that would require a real leap of faith at many other clubs.

Antoni Sarcevic signed for Bolton Wanderers today.....best of luck to him.

Callum McFadzean is still out there somewhere....not sure if I want him around anymore.....probably sign for a Lancashire club if he can find one.

Transfer window will be opening on Monday July 27th and close ten weeks later on Mon October 5th at 11pm.

Five subs will be allowed next season.
