His scores did a lot of the acting in those films. Truly iconic. Also ridiculously prolific: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_compositions_by_Ennio_Morricone
I was looking at Morricone's film scores and came across the fact that he started his career as a talented centre back for A S Roma but gave that up for his love of music , Footballs loss was a gain for music , I don't have a lot of his music but as I write this I am listening to the soundtrack to the Mission , a film that I remember so well for the music
What a brilliant way of putting it! I've posted on a few RIP threads on Facebook about this, and completely failed to say what I meant to say, which is what you did! I was thinking particularly of the scene in the graveyard before the final shoot out in Good Bad and the Ugly where they just stand there. For a few minutes. Probably could never be included in a modern film because audiences couldn't cope due to lack of attention span. However you can see their expressions, and most importantly you get to listen to "The Trio" at the same time. So in fact there's quite a lot going on. As you say the music is doing the acting.
Just in case anyone was wondering whether things are bent in this league, Michael Oliver is doing the match on Sunday. Oh, well...

I was going to suggest that he's getting old and it's time to replace him with Hwang Hee-chan, but he's literally just signed for Leipzig.
Just in case anyone was wondering whether things are bent in this league, our CB Dier has been suspended for four games, leaving us with Toby, Jan and Davinson till the end of the season and 4 games in 10 days
There was a moment during our game against Sheffield United which was lost in the general mess of the result, but it did cause a rare smile as I watched that game. Commentator: 'They have the two Macs up front', and in the next breath 'Berger has it.'
