Stick, did you see Garden Oasis winning that from a 'car park' draw (replays on ATR, of course). David Allan was really inspired in that race. IMHO, it is rare to see such a performance from horse and jockey?

My cobwebbed memory tells me I saw a similar thing at the Edmonton, Alberta, track in the mid-60's. A nag called Sun Bend, drawn literally in the car park in a maximum field of 14 on a tiny dirt track that always looked like a greyhound one to me. Distance was 7f. Then, would you believe it, I read in a racing newspaper that he'd done the same thing way down south in San Diego, California, a few months later! Both times ridden by the same jockey, Atkinson, I think his name was. Memory now closing-up for the day! Thank God, you say! <laugh>

    Newbury 6.40 - Jackpot Royale 33/1 e/w 3 places.
Jockey booking caught my eye. Kirby riding for Madgwick, hopefully means a big run is expected.

Thank you, old chap, would not have thought blinkers 1st time would have helped that much? Thought he had an outside (no pun intended) chance on past form, but thought the draw would be too much. I was wrong there. Merci, Nass! <ok>

Oh, that was probably my grandad, Rainer, we looked a lot like each other. Earliest Eclipse I remember seeing was in, let's see, 1963, when good old Garnet Bougoure brought Khalkis home with a beautifully timed run. (Was home from Canada for a few weeks to seem me mum). Garnie, an Australian from Queensland, was riding regularly in Ireland then, but previous to that, was the champion jockey on the Malaya/Singapore circuit. Upon retirement as a jockey, he returned to Singapore and trained there for many years. Dear old Garnet passed away in Frankston, Australia, in November 2008. The most stylish of riders, and a good trainer too.

I hope the wheelbarrow was empty Mick..as he pulled up by looks of things.

Not seen a ŕeal confident bet/wheelbarrow job for a while..they used to always make me chuckle when we had a spate of them posted in the past...

Not the best of days, Pops. I did have a bet on him, more than I normally do but that's racing I suppose. Should listen to the experts, least Nass said it wasn't a barrow job and looks like Swanny has had a good day.

yard are 10 from 83 with blinkers first time in handicaps since 2015 and a massive profit to SP on that too.

you learn something new everyday, and that is my point of the day.
