Personally think he has played better before this season. As you say he is now more consistent but he always had that - that to me is a mindset.
his all round game is better , he's fitter and has eliminated his issues with discipline ... oh and he much more consistent.
He's been an actual captain all season, gone from someone who I couldn't care less about to someone I always want in the starting 11. Won't take the armband off Captain Fistbumps tho.
There is a fair argument for Shelvey, Almiron and Hayden but Manquillo is the winner for me. There are others who have got worse (Schar) or plateued (Longstaffs and Lascelles). So it's a mixed bag.
After great consideration I would opt for Miggy. Yes, he was a decent player last year but I do think he has come on in leaps and bounds this season adding a more regular goal threat to his game which is probably the single most difficult part to add to anyone’s game.
Don't think Schar has got worse, just not played and I have a funny feeling he'll want out which would be a major ****up on our part,he'll be sold cheaply but good enough to play for anyone, imho.
why are people saying manquillo hes been improved for nearly 2 seasons not this season. Been at this level since he took over from yedlin after yedlin red vs palace at home and that was well before this season
Manquillo has improved massively this season. Last season he was ****e until about halfway when this improvement began. But its gone much further this season and if you take West Ham out of it, I don't think he's had many bad games this season. Huge improvement even from 2nd half of last season.
I disagree... been performing steady 7s for nion 2 years . shelves gone from 6s to 8s and 9s this season from last
I disagree. To me he's gone from 5's in first half of last season, to 6's in second half of season, up to consistent 7's and the odd 8's this season. Each to their own though. He's my most improved quite comfortably.
Firstly I disagree OP states clearly this season mate. shelvey has gone from 6s or even 5s to 8s and 9s
Indeed and I'm clearly saying I think he has made a massive improvement this season. The fact his improvement began last year is neither here nor there to me. It just means he has improved both seasons. I simply think his performances this season have been far better than the rest of his career here. Including last season for all he did start the process then. And I think he is getting better with every game bar West Ham which was pretty poor. Shelvey would be in 2nd place for me. He has shown this level of ability before, but his application this season is in contrast to most of his time here. Plus the discipline has improved (still petulant of course). He's had spells of performing like this for 2 or 3 games. Never though this consistently all season. And consistency is improvement as far as I'm concerned. Almiron would be my third choice. Almiron less so, because I felt that ability to score and add to his game was always there. He has simply settled into a new country. He looks a really good player, but then I've always liked him because you could tell from the off he had football intelligence.
