He was never as good as Shearer in the first place and I mean the injured revised Shearer version not the pre injury version. Good player but never as good as the southern media would have us believe.
I'd agree he's a good player, but, not at the Shearer level. What I'm getting at, is Kane under Mourinho, likening it with how Shearer was with Gullit as manager. Neither Gullit then or Mourinho now, played to their strengths. Is Kane happy, is he on his way out?
Have to say I think Kane is a great striker. Not in Shearer's category but I agree with Heed, the effect Mourinho is having on him is not good. Which is strange really. Mourinho has always really liked a striker he can rely on and is willing to set up his teams to help that. At Porto he had McCarthy, at Chelsea he had Drogba, at Inter he had Zlatan. So you'd think he would suit Jose, and vice versa. Kane massively needs the team to be centred around him. He is not the most mobile of strikers, but he is a fantastic finisher. Jose seems to be veering away from his standard approach in this regard, probably because other coaches have worked him out a bit now, and its not helping Kane. Put it this way, if you gave Kane to ASM and Miggy, I think you'd see a lot of goals.
people outside Newcastle just don't grasp how amazing shearer tally is ... they all thought kane was on track to beat it , but shearer didn't have a dip for his entire career goals goals goals ... even after his legs went
Despite some horrific injuries too. That ACL knee at Blackburn, the ankle dislocation for us at Everton were particularly bad. He missed some significant chunks through injury. I always think he never got the respect he deserved, especially when you consider how talented he must have been to adapt his game, and remain a world class striker. In some ways he got better. Still one of the best crossers of a ball I've ever seen too.
