Thorpe reckons Johnson has had his day. Former Bristol City striker Tony Thorpe says Lee Johnson should leave after this season Ex-Robins forward says club need a 'change of direction' after four-and-a-half years under the head coach https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/former-bristol-city-striker-tony-4289007
Normally between seasons would be ideal, but with such a short time in between this season & next now this season is effectively over is the time to get someone else in to give them as much time as possible.
They are likely to sell players at any time. In a efficient development system the team and squad does not go back to square one. Players leaving can be replaced by the next developed player. Players who could have spent years developing key skills for the first team needs (its identity). This would be somewhat like the system Mr Johnson was talking about in 2016/17.
You mean the next developing players, which aren't so good as the players been sold.... By continually selling your best players disrupts the squad......For me, it's NOT how the academy should work......but we've been here before!!
Maybe I'm completely out of touch but who is Roy DeAlien, sounds a complete hoax but you never know. please log in to view this image Roy DeAlien @RoyDeAlien Alien football news reporter. News that is out of this world with rumours i hear from my many alien sources and posted on twitter 1st. The news that bites back!
City already sell their best players. Virtually all teams do. Teams and players are always developing. Look at the first team now. A supportive progressive element can be the model Mr Johnson spoke about in 2016. By focussing on first playing priorities and aligning players skill sets to these priorities academies/U teams can provide value for money and improve obviously the XI. What has occurred is that the academy and U teams cannot follow Mr Johnson priorities because he doesn't have them. He butterflies across formations and intentions.
That's why we can't form a consistent squad to progress......one step forward and three steps back. "By focussing on first playing priorities and aligning players skill sets to these priorities academies/U teams can provide value for money and improve obviously the XI" That's very difficult to do in one season.......then to lose your best and main core players.....
Mr Johnson hasn't had one season. The team has no identity with principles (priorities) to align and develop players skill sets to. The priorities should have been in place in four years. Mr Johnson has not attempted what he said he would do. He also did not create this coaching and development framework anywhere else. He is not up to the task he set himself.
Each season he's been there, we've lost our inform or best players.....not sure many managers progress much, if at the end of every season they lose key players, then expect new players unfamiliar to setup carry on exactly the same way. Common sense says to me, a gelled team would normally be better. If we looked just to survive and compete in this league, then i can see how the academy would play a part......but if we need to push, then an experienced, established side would have more chance...................................Again, that's my take on it........I'm stubborn!!
I was able to watch the game here in Canada and what I saw showed me the reason why we are where we are, and that showed in the body language. All the players brought off were clearly ticked off at something, or somebody. Playoffs not reachable yet again and seeing this lot play like that showed the main reason why we will not be a team going anywhere. It was like watching paint dry.
