Haven’t read the article but listened to the podcast. The thing that stood out for me as a bit weird was constantly referring to the Cash injection they had put in and speaking about it as a loan as though that’s though that’s what was said at the time. They came in on their white ****ing horse calling it a gift!!! You don’t lend a gift. And you certainly don’t charge exorbitant interest on the bastard!

It possibly was his original intention, but once the name change battle commenced he changed from a gift to a loan. Though knowing how his mind works, it was more than likely his idea of a gift lending the club the money in the first place.

The money was always in the form of a loan, no? Not equity.

his gift then was saving the club, he ****ed up due diligence, he then ****ed up the relationship with the Council when he didn't get the freehold, he didn't get his car reg so he tried to change the name and ****ed that up, he ****ed up his relations with the fans when he told them to die, told them they were irrelevant and played musical chairs with the seating - he's ****ed up his relationship with every manager he's had and his ultimate achievement after all that he's ****ed up the club - when he started we had 20k in the ground, now we have nobody, he could have had £130 million, now it's worth **** all - business genius

After all his philanthropic gestures, local health authority, university, not least of all the Queen opening the Allam Medical Centre, Allam Marine winning a Queens award for exports, it does make you wonder why he has not even had a minor honour bestowed upon him. And that in itself is some legacy.

You would have thought he would have had an OBE at least, maybe he has turned it down.

Other questionable people have had gongs though.

He certainly gave the impression it was a gift no mention of a loan at the time.

I think the meaning was lost in translation i.e. ''gift'' & ''die when they want'' & ''gone in 24 hrs'' are what he said, but not what he actually meant though. In fairness to the old boy, I never believed it was meant as a freebie, even when he said it - but that's me, cynical as **** like.

I'm talking from a financial point of view, not semantics and platitudes he may have used in the media. I suspect in the 11/12 season it was reflected as a loan and didn't just pop up on the BS as a loan after the name change in 13/14.

I think there is a lot of hair splitting on this 'gift to the people of Hull' statement. They saved the club for the public of Hull by forking out £20-30m to save us from going into administration.
The club were heading head first down **** creek without a paddle a great big hole in the hull at the time. Our first visit to the PL had filled the pockets of a lot of people but left the club massively in debt. That was the gift, they paid the debt off.
Isn't about time this 'gift' and 'let them die' talk was put to bed once and for all ? I'm sick of hearing it and I'm sure others are too because, be honest, we all know the true meaning of those words at the time. Were we not singing 'I'm City til i die' at 19.04 every game ?

It's a gift to the people of Hull
    I'm shortening the name
Ideally we would have a single word name, like Coca Cola
They can die when they want
I will be gone in 24 hours
If I can't sell Hull City, I will give it away

I think it's safe to assume that most of the stuff that comes out of Assem Allam's mouth, is complete and utter nonsense.
