Lots of good names in there. I agree there are more exciting names out there than Højbjerg and ‘Monster’ the Korean but I think it ultimately comes down to budget. It sounds a bit harsh but snapping up a few bargains from relegated teams might be the order of the day as well, especially when it comes to forwards.
Castagne from Atalanta has been linked recently and he strikes me as a more balanced RWB than Aurier, and with him entering the last year of his contract he's Levyable Here's the Statto report please log in to view this image Given our system requires one FB to go forward and one to tuck in to make a back three, having the attacking option less likely to lose possession high up the pitch is important, and while Castagne isn't as likely to bomb down the flank he's more incisive when he gets forward
I'd say this makes Tariq Hinds' departure official... https://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/teams/under-23/players/tariq-hinds/
He was the only player who didn't sign an extension, so presumably he already has a deal lined up somewhere else ...should I break out the sirens to alert @remembercolinlee?
Two of the right-backs that we've been linked with have less than a year left on their contracts. Castagne at Atalanta was a recent rumour, while Hysaj at Napoli is an older one. The latter's been in and out of the side and played a few times at left-back too, so he might fancy a move. Sell Aurier, buy both, see who works out. Easy!
Lionel Messi has pulled out of contract talks with Barcelona and is now preparing to leave the club when his current deal expires next summer, according to reports in Spain. The 33-year-old’s camp have been locked in negotiations with Barca’s hierarchy over a new deal for some time, with just 12 months remaining on the four-year deal he signed in 2017. Although Barca had been confident of signing up their talisman to a new deal, radio station Cadena Ser now claim that Messi has backed away from talks. Probably putting pressure on the manager or board. Rumour is that the current bloke is unpopular and will be replaced.
Feels like every summer there's a Messi contract story. It's the non-Spurs version of a transfer link to Damiao.
Osimhen Watch Le10 Sport are reporting that Lille are really, really determined to sell Victory Osimhen to Napoli this summer - although there's one potential holdup in that deal, namely the fact that Osimhen doesn;t want to join Napoli Zaniolo Watch It's that time of year again, lads! While there's no concrete reports of us making a bid, it has been reported by Italian sources that with Roma facing Covid-related financial difficulties they are willing to lower their asking price for Nicolo Zaniolo, with it reported that they're willing to accept bids of €60m - which is a 50% decrease on their asking price even in January - so let's just sit back and accept the inevitability that we'll be linked with him sooner or later Hindsight Watch A Turkish Source (just imagine a bunch of umlauts) report that we made a €19m offer for Fenerbahce striker Vedat Muriqi in January...to which Fener responded with "You mean €28m?" which was met with us walking away PDQ
Keep seeing Arsenal linked with Thomas Partey. As perfect signings go, that guy ticks just about every single box you can imagine as the third midfielder in a midfield three to go along with Gio and Tanguy. Surely if Atleti are willing to sell Jose/ Levy would/ should be all over that? League’s above Hojbjerg.
Similar can be said for Zakaria, and considering there isn't a Euros to inflate his fee this summer that surely has to be worth investigating further
Love to see him come to the PL, if only to shut up the idiots who think he wouldn’t cut it (even though his record against the top six is outstanding)
The 2011 CL final was fascinating to watch, not for the match itself as Barca strolled past Man Utd, but watching the goalposts constantly moving First it was "Messi has never scored against Premier League opponents" that was a mantra of those who couldn't comprehend the idea that the Oily Rat isn't the best player on earth...and then he scored against Man Utd. So did Clive Tyldsley change his tune? Did he ****, he just moved on to "But have you ever seen Messi score a header?" Gee, I wonder why English fans have spent decades ruining the phrase "world class" by attaching it to overrated crap like Alan Shearer or Wayne Rooney...
