A real mixed bag of a day, with Dusty's Choice falling two out when in the lead and being fatally injured. Diodorus disappointed in second behind a long priced winner but others won nicely and a tricast with the horse in the 4:30 would have paid nicely. Minellacelebration won at 10.50 returning £31.05 Clever As A Fox won at 11.70 returning £55.31 Kings Temptation won at 7.60 returning £22.52 So £108.88 returned from £57 staked. £51.88 profit for day two of the jumps season.
A more select few today, and to be honest on paper I don't fancy many of them!! 14:10 Newton Abbot Orsino £5 14:40 Newton Abbot Kendelu £5 15:45 Newton Abbot His Dream £4 15:45 Newton Abbot Ratoute Yutty £4 17:20 Newton Abbot Cheltenam De Vaige £5 17:50 Newton Abbot Follow That £5
Disappointing day but only £28 returned to the layers on the exchange. Tomorrow looks a very small betting day for the systems.
Yeah it’s going well. Since the 14th June (when I switched a few systems off) I’ve got a 55% ROI with some good priced winners. It’s already paid for itself and made a nice profit to this point.
Nass, yesterday I said I'd put yours and and sticks in a fc, your comment was the horse wouldn't get the distance which to be fair, didn't by a long way..this one 15:45 Newton Abbot Ratoute Yutty £4 Did the system flag this? Why didn't you use your own knowledge to take out saving yourself a bet? Just intrigued really as you have many pointers that flagged up this was a no bet.
For jumps meetings I look at the cards in more detail, and I know that horse quite well, it is a very frustrating horse, but also one that is very well handicapped and the market suggested that it was ready to run. The systems often put up horses that I don't fancy (some have already won this year - Kings Temptation was one the other day) but rather than remove the horses I normally reduce stakes. That race yesterday was very open and it wouldn't have surprised me if His Dream or Ratoute Yutty had managed to run very well despite pre-race concerns, so rather than going down to the usual half stakes, I decided to just drop to £4. The other point on this is that we didn't know that the horse wouldn't stay, and until the evidence is in the book, it is difficult to completely rule it out. Now if she runs over 3 miles + again, I will remove her from my bets. If she runs over 2m4/5 next time, she probably will be a full stake bet.
You should delete her readily from everything you have and not waste any more money backing her. She is 0/15 now for a very good yard which should tell you all you need to know. That was a really modest handicap yesterday and she was beaten out of sight.
I am not sure what your point is but Classic Escape was only beaten by 1L, Ratoutte Woofy was beaten 37L. In case you didnt notice that was definitely a career best performance from Classic Escape yesterday. I think Newland will struggle to win with that one from its current mark and I really hope the handicapper doesnt think it is right to put him up for that run. If he has run to 110 then I guess I should be pleased.
The point was that perhaps it’s a horse that needs laying in running. It doesn’t seem to have a change of gears, and to me he was the one who was given the optimum ride. It’ll be very interesting to see if they can find another race that is weak without it going up in the weights, currently 110 so anything above a couple of pounds would mean a rise in handicap banding next time out.
