For what it's worth, Celtic has six outbound transfers that Transfermarkt estimates at 10m or more. Getafe, Alaves, Eibar, Levante, Valladolid, Osasuna and Granada have six combined. Celtic has been a fairly good shop window over the years. Competition is definitely a consideration, but playing for fairly bad teams tends to also be a poor showcase of one's talent, too. A player on Celtic will have more chances to look good. As for a midfielder that transferred out of Scotland for a significant amount, I can think of one...he transferred to us!
I take your point. Although I cant take Transfermarkt seriously, look at Ings' and PEH's valuations for example (£10m). We haven't mentioned the French league, but a well scouted club like Lille or Rennes would be a way to boost profile and value. These clubs seem to have coveted high value players or rather worthless ones.
Who knows if Saints are actually interested... but as the story goes, we have offered something laughable in terms of an offer.... why should we be surprised.... just because we stand some kind of chance getting a half decent player...??!!... can see this being the next Holland, Astori or Maehele...he’ll be snapped up by a team in a similar or lower position...!!!
If he can return to the level of ability shown when he was at his best thrn it's a win for us, But he could just be as a bad also. Time will tell.
You’d think he’ll have some confidence back after a good season for Celtic. If we can fix our other glaring defensive issues then maybe he has a shot at a starting place. We have three keepers and none of them are very convincing but they’ve also been behind a calamitous defensive unit since the days of Virgil prime. Who knows how it all shakes out when they have more confidence in their team.
Fraser had a calamitous drop in form and his confidence was shot...there must still be a decent keeper under there somewhere. We gave him contract, so we are responsible for him during the period of the contract. He may not really see a future here, but obviously doesn’t see one on Scotland either.
Terrible news, he was never as good as people made out. Looked brilliant when behind Jose and Toby shielded by Morgan and Vic, not difficult to rack up clean sheets when you're facing the second least shots on target in the entire division. As soon as our defence got worse he was shown up for the average keeper he is. Doesn't dominate his box anywhere well enough for a keeper of his size and struggles getting down to low shots, even more so since his injury. He wasn't the most agile anyway, but after the injury he suddenly had the agility of a sloth on ketamine. Massive waste of 80 bags a week if we can't move him on.
Yep.... another product of the Les Reed downfall.... lets give him a shedload of cash... Errmm.... ok.... is he actually worth it.....?... too late.... he’s signed...!!!
The headline doesn't reflect the story in any way. I'm not too bothered with which one of the three keepers we sell, and I suspect the club's own view isn't too different either. Whichever one we can get the best offer for, we sell. In that respect, Angus' age makes he stand out as attractive to other clubs. But that doesn't necessarily mean it will be him.
I heard Gunn was still seen as the long-term option, but they feel a season out on loan will push him on a bit.
I have seen it suggested elsewhere that Gunn will go out on loan to Norwich next season to replace Krull.
and perhaps now people will believe that I was the reason for those 6 clean sheets* in a row Match Threads, including my 11 saves at Arsenal. * still unrepeated; not before or since. #bringnackfats’matchthreadsandtakeusbacktoeurope
