I seem to recall you posted almost exactly the same thing a couple of weeks ago. Easter was around the peak of the first wave, so it’s unlikely anyone would have said that. Some places like Leicester are in their second wave now. It’s inevitable that there will be hot spots following the stupidity of certain people and the confusion over what the guidelines actually are, and that they don’t necessarily apply to government special advisors.
I get that - just fed up of the constant doom and gloom that's all. Naturally trying to keep positive and cope with the situation.
It beggars belief that even now the government are not revealing the whole truth about the number of people who actually have the virus. Only disclosing Pillar 1 figures (care/hospital staff and patients) but ignoring Pillar 2 figures (home/lab testing) is giving a completely false figure, as can be seen in this article about Leicester. https://www.thelondoneconomic.com/news/leicester-lockdown-exposes-new-data-scandal/30/06/
Bloody hell those graphs are shocking beyond belief! That is scandalous, this government have to be held to account for their criminal incompetence.
I liked it not because older people are more disposable, but because that is a totally selfless opinion and if we could all have wisdom like that the world would truly be a better place.
This is uniformly bad news: That doesn't mean that people automatically become at risk of reinfection, but it certainly opens the possibility, especially with higher viral loads. Prevention remains the primary objective.
I’ve forgotten most of what I ever learned about T cell-dependant B cell activation, but I believe that just because the antibodies, which are immunoglobulins secreted by B lymphocytes, disappear, it doesn’t necessarily mean that immunity disappears. The T lymphocytes might retain a memory of the original antigen, in this case the a COVID-19 virus, and activate the appropriate B lymphocytes as soon as secondary exposure happens. Hopefully. Please.
Per his thread, studies have shown hope that T-cell response will add significant protection. Just gotta have a strong response there to overcome reinfection, which is a real issue for people who have any immuno-compromization.
I was staggered by that graph which must surely be replicated around many towns and cities in the UK. I have been quite surprised to see the Guardian reporting that there will likely be Leicester-style lockdown in Scotland which was heading toward being Covid-free. In my opinion, the easing of restrictions has come much too soon and before we have really reached a proper understanding of what the true situation is. I think it is completely wrong to suggest that the BLM protest contributed to the spike in Leicester and the issue is more attributable to social factors such as deprivation, high densities in accommodation and a failure to impart health measures to parts of the population where English may not be the first language or there are social issues. Given the fact that BAME communities have been known to have borne the brunt of this disease, I feel that the Government should have tackled this problem more decisively If anything, it demonstrates just how necessary the BLM movement is. This disease has exposed racism unlike anything else in this country. Rather than being a problem, Leicester is an indictment of this governments and, to be fair, the wider British public's antipathy towards these communities. The problem would not have been so serious if we had been more inclusive. I must admit that it frightens me that a lot of data is being generated which is suggestive that this country is managing the situation extremely poorly. A government of national unity should have been declared as soon as Boris went in hospital. It was a missed opportunity and a chance to understand if Scotland is managing the situation better than England, what are the factors that are driving this. In a national crisis, Boris has been too divisive and his failings have been all too apparent. I don't think that people will vote Tory again for a long time after this.
We need more laughter but it is difficult as the effects continue. Our local Bra making factory has gone bust and a strip club has gone tits up.
Unlike Fran I have no desire to die prematurely and needlessly which is what has happened to many men of my generation and of course many others in this pandemic. There are circumstances in which sacrificing my life would be a generous and heroic thing to do but losing my life because of the incompetence of this government and Johnson's shockingly poor leadership is not just disgraceful it is criminal. It has all just added to the venom I feel towards the people who foolishly elected him and who treacherously voted for Brexit.
