sign of the times that I cared to pay a visit to the Argus rather than any of the Pompey boards. couldn't help myself
I should add (or admit) that in the quote above from Claridge there are 2 statement which were spoken a minute or so apart. Those 2 quotes sandwiched a but statement along the lines of: but this isn't the Brighton I have seen. They are a very effective side and I am sure they will be there or there abouts at the end. lol So the Claridge/Brighton love in is still well and truly alive although by 'effective' I assume he means their fouling and cheating is well done and their stale defend, foul and counter once a game tactics are effective. lol I think Saints are the QPR this season for Claridge. Last year he warbled on about Norwich all season and didn't have a good word to say about QPR. His BBC blog's comments each week were 90% disgruntled QPR fans saying he should stick to the bookies and be sacked from the BBC. lol Just to show how boring Claridge actually is (if we didn't already know) last night he thought he would ad a little light hearted entertainment in towards the end (Clardige stylee) Claridge At the end of the day, I think 4 minutes, at the end of the day Real Commentator 4 minutes? Claridge At the end of the day, added time. I think there will be 4 minutes aded time. Fancy a fiver on it....at the end of the day. Real Commentator Ermmm No. And a third for Palce Claridge Look the board says 4 minutes.............at the end of the day The above is true The below was what I was envisaging: Real commentator (should've said) STFU about added time Palace have scored another goal. Claridge (would've said) Sorry I missed what you said. I'm following the results on the William Hill page to see if my double bet on how many throw ins there were at Pompey and how many misplaced passes Pompey made has won or not. I bet tonight's salary that I've been paid thinking I would actually commentate on this and it could make me a billionaire. real commentator (would've said.) Did you win? Claridge - No. See you tomorrow night. real commentator - Noooooooooooooooo what have I done to deserve this life Claridge - Uh Who's playing tomorrow night and where at? I need to find out if they have Wi-Fi hotspots for my laptop. If I can't gamble instead of doing the pundit thingamywhotsit I am supposed to be doing then I'm not going. real commentator - Then you won't be paid and have no money to gamble Claridge - Good point well made....where did you say we were going again real commentator - Southampton at Cardiff. Claridge - Cardif are a good side...Lets have a look at the top. real commentator - Errrm Southampton are top of the league Claridge - Above Brighton? Above Pompey? I don't believe you. real commentator......Are you real? You are a pundit and don't know the league standings? Claridge - Don't interupt me, I'm laying tomorrow nights money on Christmas being in November this year. the sound of banging a radio mike against a head viciously is heard across the airwaves then the obligitary every 5 minute run of trailers for other programs cuts the broadcast off. Was it Claridge hitting the commentator for interupting his betting pleasures or the commentator beating Claridge for being a know nothing but paid well pundit on football. lol or for saying at the end of the day in every sentence,.
As the Radio 5 Live commentary is from the Cardiff v Saints match tonight [click on link], I suspect Claridge will be a co-commentator. If he is, it might be a good idea to listen to it again on the iPlayer, after the match, or listen in live, to hear if he is complimentary to Saints. I know he is very impressed with the current side. I will be listening to Dave and Adam or Kris, on Solent, but out-of-towners and non-Saints player peeps will have a commentary option.
Claridge doesn't have the silky delivery or rich vocabuilary that Merrington has. "What Saints don't want to do now..."
You spelt "doooooon't" wrong. Anyway I think Claridge gets a bad press off us... it's not his fault he's a skate :-D
