I disregarded this article when I read:

"Fellow new boy Gabriel Obertan has similarly impressed and has been a revelation on the right wing. His direct running combined with and an eye for a pass has cemented him in the Newcastle first team."

Has he actually watched any NUFC games?

  2. To be honest i agree.

His crossing has been mostly ****e, but he's made some great runs and picked out a player in the box.

Couldnt help but laugh when this came out. Fail.

Also love the way he makes Obertan sound completely different to Gutierrez, as if Obertan is Jonas WITH a final ball, which is just wrong.

I think Jonas is a fantastic player for us though. Fair enough he doesn't always come in with direct assists when you'd like, or even goals, but his general play and workrate is something we need.

Not as in the workrate you get from Alan Smith either, Jonas is actually useful. Tracking back and then taking pressure off the defence when counter attacking.

So you think Obertan has been a "revelation on the right wing"? Really? Reeeaaallly? REALLY?

  5. We have pace on the right wing, something which we lacked when Barton was here, and Simmo had to push further up the pitch, at least Simmo can drop back quicker now.

He's not been a "revelation", i never said that, but he can be in the future if we give him the chance. He's getting better as his confidence grows.

He's at least balanced out the play, similar to how Routledge did when we signed him in the championship. Instead of making us too predictable and attacking ALL down the left.

I dont mind jonas as long as he's not on more than 40k. I don't think he should be first choice for much longer though. His best performances for us have him been coming off the bench running at tired fullbacks, which is what i hope he will be showing in future. Also him and taylor get confused a lot, 2 right footed players on the left is definitely one too many.

Agreeing with this definitely. Obertan isn't amazing but his pace is good and he's linking up surprisingly well with Simpson, I think we've seen some of Simpson's best attacking work recently too - not just against Blackburn either.

Still not sure on Obertan. He's just started with us though, so really far too early to say.

Certainly if he gets some confidence and starts his trickery in the box he'll be a great asset. He seems the same as Jonas to me, in that he's better at cutting in and skimming than crossing. Time will tell and I certainly hope he proves himself.

As it stands he looks average to good IMHO
